CAYMAN ISLANDS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COUNCIL NOMINEES FOR 2019
Vice President Mike Gibbs, President, Kensington Management Group, Ltd. Mike Gibbs is a past Chairman of the Insurance Managers' Association of Cayman (IMAC) and is a past President and now life member of the Lions Club of Grand Cayman. Originally from London, England, Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has over 37 years in the offshore financial industry, of which 4 years were spent in Hong Kong and the balance in Cayman. After an initial assignment with Price Waterhouse, Mike spent 12 years with Bank of America in Cayman and Asia, and 4 years with Johnson & Higgins (now Marsh Management Services). In 1999, he was instrumental in the establishment of Kensington, which now ranks as one of the leading insurance management companies in the Cayman Islands. Mike has served as a Councillor of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce from 2016-18.
Secretary Steve Mcintosh, President, CML Offshore Recruitment, Ltd. Steve McIntosh is an entrepreneur, chartered accountant and HR professional. Born and raised in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland, he graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where he studied accounting and psychology. After starting his career with global accounting firm KPMG, Steve qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) and transferred to the Cayman Islands in September 2001. In 2004 Steve founded financial services recruitment firm CML which provides recruitment and HR services to many of the world’s best-known professional and financial services firms.
Treasurer Colin Robinson, Director, Strategic Risk Solutions Colin Robinson joined the SRS team in 2009. He has nearly 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, ranging from the captive to the commercial underwriting marketplace. Colin previously worked as a Senior Account Manager and Assistant Vice President with Marsh Management Services. He currently works with single parent captives and SPCs, and has dealt with clients in healthcare, construction, and more.
Councillor (three vacant positions) Barbara Anley, General Manager, Phoenix Construction Barbara has been with Phoenix Construction since arriving in 2004 to assist with the rebuilding of the Island after the hurricane and has been their General Manager since 2007. She completed the CEMBA Programme at UCCI shortly after settling in here. Prior to relocating from Canada she worked with a custom home builder in both an administrative capacity and various field support roles for several years. It was there she learned the skills required to provide quality workman-ship and reinforced the importance of great customer service. Before getting into the construction industry she spent over 20 years in the Canadian Forces and was temporarily seconded to the United Nations Headquarters where she served in both Egypt and Cyprus. Barbara is a member of Rotary Sunrise and has served as their Disaster Response Chairperson for the past 3 years. She is often out in the community volunteering for several other charitable organisations. She is a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Cayman Programme which allowed for greater insight of the processes within government departments as well as a terrific introduction to the many senior level employees who keep our Public Service operational.
Tim Bradley, Owner and Managing Director, Professional Yacht Management Ltd. Tim moved to Grand Cayman in 1993. He was employed in the dive industry from 1993-96 and started employment with Professional Yacht Management in 1996. He is married with two children. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Tim has been a member of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman since 2010 and has served as a director from 2011 to date. Jennifer Cowdroy, Client Services Director, Mourant Governance Services Jenn arrived in the Cayman Islands in January 1993 after leaving her corporate finance role at a major Canadian company to explore parts of the world with more sun and less traffic. She began her career in the tourism sector as the Financial Controller and Operations Director for a group of companies which included restaurants, small hotels, distributorships and retail stores. During her time in the tourism industry Jenn worked alongside the founding members of the C.I. Tourism Association, helping to launch the Taste of Cayman event for 5 years running. During that time Jenn also opened and managed a local Seven Mile Beach bar before selling her ownership in 2002. In 2001 Jenn moved to the financial services sector, working with the firm Charles Adams Ritchie & Duckworth (now Collas Crill) as their Financial Controller. In 2004 Jenn completed her M.B.A. in Finance and joined law firm Quin & Hampson (now Mourant) as their Financial Controller and Operations Director for Cayman and BVI, responsible for all non-fee earning areas to include Finance, HR, Operations, Marketing, Risk and Compliance and IT. She continues to serve as the Deputy MLRO. From 2004 until 2009 Jenn also served as a Trustee and Chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce Pension Plan, and from 2017 joined the Silver Thatch
Pension Plan Board of Trustees. Her latest project has taken her into the Education sector, as the Owner and Director of Island Montessori pre-school, which offers programs for children from 12 months to Kindergarten, while also currently developing her own Consulting Business for launch in late 2018. In her spare time Jenn keeps busy holding various strata council positions, and spending time with her husband, two young sons and their collection of pets. Sebastien Guilbard, Owner and Manager, Dock at Morgan’s Harbour Ltd. Born a French National, Sebastien graduated with MSC from the Institut Superieur de Gestion in Paris, in 1993. After graduating, he assisted his mother with her business in Monaco for three years, and later travelled to Moscow and Belize independently to continue his work experience. Sebastien moved to the Cayman Islands in 2001 when he accepted the position of Campus/Housing Manager at St. Matthew's University. As of late, he has remained busy in the world of work, currently working as: the Housing Manager for St. Matthew's University Properties; Owner & COO of Paramount Investment Ltd.; and Manager/Owner of Dock at Morgan's Harbour Ltd. Sebastien has served as an active member of the Cayman Islands community, participating in a number of local institutions. He spent 11 years with the Rotary Club, serving as President for the 2013-14 period. He is the current chair of Cayman Crime Stoppers since 2016 and has served on the Board for several years.
Simon J. Watson, BSc FRICS, Founding Partner, Charterland Charterland is a firm of Chartered Surveyors operating in the Cayman Islands since 2009. A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Simon has over 20 years’ professional experience in the Cayman Islands where he has lived since 1995. Prior to founding Charterland,
Simon was previously the Director of Deloitte responsible for the Property Consulting Division in the Caribbean & Bermuda. He has also worked with the Cayman Islands Valuation Office, advising the Government on valuation and other property related issues. With RICS Certifications in Valuations, Business Valuations and Quantity Surveying, Simon is one of the most qualified and experienced Chartered Surveyors in the Cayman Islands. Simon is also a founding Board Member of both the Cayman Islands National Chapter of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, RICS Cayman and the regional Chapter, RICS Caribbean. He also previously served as the Caribbean representative to the Board of RICS Americas. Amanda Wilson, Relationship Manager, GreenTech Group Amanda Wilson (nee Brown) is an enthusiastic and charismatic Caymanian businesswoman who is passionate about Cayman and its future. After working in many industries in Cayman, Amanda is now working in the sustainability industry and is very excited about renewable energy and the positive effects it will have for everyone in the Cayman Islands – both economically and environmentally. Amanda traveled extensively during her school years and has a Bachelor of Science in International Business. She comes from a family of entrepreneurs and believes emphatically in “being the change you want to see in the world.”
