Dance for Peace

Puntas de Calnegre & Lorca (Murcia) Spain

Cazalla Intercultural

10th - 18th March 2014

This project combined workshops about peace education, conflict transformation, non-violent communication and dance. The exchange helped participants understand what role young people can

have in their communities and in the society to create and maintain a peaceful coexistence. The theoretical part of the main topic gave the group a deep perception of the concepts of peace education and encourage participants to act through the dance. The group worked together, combining the potential and opportunities to share and learn from each other.

Cazalla Intercultural

“Dance for Peace was a youth exchange within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme organized by Ayuntamiento de Lorca with a collaboration of Cazalla Intercultural.

Cazalla Intercultural

The final result of the exchange was a wonderful dance performance that was shown to the local community of Lorca. The show was a great tool for raising awareness and promoting youth participation in making social change.

The project’s name is Learning from violence and it tries to fight for social inclusion of the young immigrants and young people from Lorca who are at a risk of the social exclusion in the municipality of Lorca (Spain), through informal training activities as well as leisure and free time activities in order to promote fellowship, mutual knowledge and values’ education.

I want to study Spanish to be able to communicate with people. This will give me the possibility to find good friends and learn about the traditions and culture of this country. But what is most important for me, I want to develop myself. I want to grow up spiritually, culturally and morally. I have to change my usual life: In Ukraine I had only my usual daily routines like job, home, job, home again and again. I wasn't so self-confident to change something. So with this project I really want to change myself first, to become more open-minded and to start building my real life position.
