Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often: ❑ Who can open an account and become a member of Community Promise? Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or goes to school in the City of Kalamazoo. ❑ How do I become a member? Bring tour picture ID and you can join by opening an account with us. $5.00 is all it takes. ❑ Will my account be insured? Yes, all accounts are insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration: Your savings federally insured to $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency.
❑ Where is Community Promise located? Community Promise has its main office at 1313 Portage Street, next to the former LA Insurance, across the street from the Family Dollar, ❑ What types of products and services will Community Promise provide? Currently, we provide basic services such as savings, loans and direct deposit. As our membership grows and with community support, we expect to offer the same types of products that other financial institutions typically offer. ❑ What types of outreach services and educational programs will you offer? We will provide non-cash services, including financial literacy programs. As our membership grows, we plan to offer additional educational programs in conjunction with some of our community partners. ❑ What type of Credit Union is Community Promise? Community Promise is a Community Development Credit Union, whose mission is to provide financial services and education in areas of the city that mainstream financial institutions do not have a presence. Helping families and individuals who need a financial institution that provides fair and affordable financial services, focused on their needs.
