FALCON FAMILY NEWS

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear Families:

The beginning of school is my favorite time of year! Returning students are excited and energized following the summer break. Freshmen are nervous as they begin navigating the uncertain waters of high school and eager to experience this mysterious “Lock-In” they have heard so much about Our faculty and staff members are refreshed and ready for the challenges of inspiring students as they help them prepare for success in college and life I love every moment of it!

In one of his myriad writings, St John Baptist de La Salle shared, “Have as great a care and love for the children entrusted to you as Saint Joseph had for the Child Jesus You have been commissioned by God to look after these children just as Saint Joseph did with the Child ”

That is a tall order! It is also, I believe, the secret of our success as we enter our 149th year of Lasallian Catholic education in Sacramento Relationships are at the heart of all we do Rooted deeply in our ministry is a commitment to educational innovation while caring for the whole child Faculty members have been teaching summer courses, attending enrichment courses and training sessions designed to enhance the classroom experience for our students.Department heads have been charting courses and reviewing curriculum to ensure that our students are prepared, across the board, to succeed in college and beyond. Our Lasallian Student Life Office has been busily planning dynamic retreat experiences, student activities, and service opportunities for the coming year.

I myself had the privilege of attending the final year of my three-year program at the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies and I have loved every aspect of the experience. The first two years were incredible learning experiences, from the in-depth study of De La Salle’s origins to exploring his educational vision and applying it to the practicalities of serving students today. This year’s deep dive into his spiritual readings resonated for me as a leader and in my own personal faith journey. Collectively, this three-year experience has allowed me to more fully appreciate my role as a steward of upholding and actualizing our Lasallian Catholic mission De La Salle’s example of holding fast to faith, modeling Christ’s love for our students, while boldly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of young people fuels me to do the same Love is really at the heart of all we do, and I am so excited to continue this incredible work

Thank you for the trust you place in us as partners in this journey I look forward to celebrating the many successes and joys of the coming year and hope it is filled with many blessings for you and your families

Live Jesus in our hearts!

Partner organizations will be on campus to inform students of volunteer opportunities that are available to them. Servicebased clubs and other volunteer opportunities will also be highlighted, and students can learn about the many ways they can get involved to make a difference.

This year, the LSLO will continue to offer “CB sponsored” service events at a variety of local non-profits, including Tuesday morning Brown Bag Lunch giveaways at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, assembling food boxes for the Sacramento Food Bank, and attending food distribution events nearby to help distribute food to our neighbors in need Students can review information on the school website and check Schoology for more information as events become available throughout the year

The future without a doubt looks bright.
