February 6, 2022 5 p.m. We welcome you to Christ Church Cathedral. Since 1839, this Christian community has gathered for worship. The Cathedral is equipped with a hearing loop for assisted listening via telecoil. Welcome to Christ Church Cathedral! Fully vaccinated worshipers are encouraged to wear masks indoors on campus. Worshipers who are not fully vaccinated, including children over the age of two, are expected to wear masks. We have a socially distanced and masked seating section available. The east transept and first rows near the pulpit are reserved for those who choose both to physically distance and wear masks. If you’re sitting in the marked sections, you’re expected to wear masks and sit socially distanced. We have resumed administering wine at Holy Communion. Intinction (i.e.-dipping the wafer in the chalice) is permitted. However, in accordance with Bishop Doyle’s guidelines, at Communion we will not drink from the common cup. It is also acceptable to receive bread but not wine, as each element of Communion contains a full measure of grace. The congregation will be invited to the altar rail to receive Communion. If you choose to sit in the area reserved for physical distance, Communion will be brought to you in your pew. We’re glad you’re here! Let us prepare to worship the Lord.

A Reading from the Book of Isaiah.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. He got into 3

one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him. Pray for this fragile earth, our island home. Pray that we would be its good stewards and it would withstand our abuse. Silence

Pray for the Church. Pray that where it is right God will strengthen it, and where it is in error God will direct it. Pray that God will fill the Church with all truth and peace. Silence

Pray for the joy of human life, with all its wonder and surprises. Pray we would remember that all people are created in the very image of God. Silence

Pray for the poor, the destitute, and the dying, in the full knowledge that God looks with special favor upon those in greatest need.

known in the breaking of bread. Wise and gracious God, you spread a table before us; nourish your people with the word of life, and the bread of heaven.

Before time, you were. You created us, and when we strayed you drew us back to you with your saving grace. For the gift of your grace and in supplication and thanksgiving to you, we bring you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. On the night he was betrayed, Jesus Christ took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you.
