Dear Commissioners, Staff and Friends of Local Preservation: The National Alliance of Preservation Commissions is pleased to present our third national biennial conference dedicated to the issues and concerns of local preservation commissions. San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is Texas' most popular city, and home to attractions such as the Alamo, the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, the Riverwalk, and the King William Historic District. If you have never visited this part of Texas, you're in for a wonderful trip! If you have, we will do our best to introduce you to a side of the city that you haven't seen, including the surrounding neighborhoods and districts. Our first Forum, held in Denver in 1998, and the second Forum, held in Pittsburgh in 2000, drew more than 800 local commissioners, staff, and state Certified Local Government Coordinators from around the country. It is our goal to build on the success of these two conferences this year in San Antonio and to continue to offer you a balanced program that includes both nationally recognized speakers and roundtable discussions led by commissioners like you. In addition, we've planned a number of mobile workshops, breakout sessions and even a festive “Night in Old San Antonio! The NAPC remains dedicated to educating commissions through the exchange of ideas and experiences. We hope you'll join us in San Antonio for what promises to be our most unforgettable Forum! Meredith Arms Bzdak Chair National Alliance of Preservation Commissions page 2
