Bambeninye Development Service (BDS) Project is born out of the Larabanga Development Committee, which came together in 1992 as a self-help community group aiming to improve the quality of life in the village. This change of name recognizes and extends to the area covered by the development goals of this group to include all the communities surrounding Mole National Park. BDS aims: • Development of ecotourism initiatives, • Development of social amenities, namely health and education facilities, • Protection and revival of local culture, • Conservation of local wildlife and habitat, • Development income generating initiatives.

Larabanga welcomes you to Larabanga is a small and very welcoming village only 6Km (about 4 miles) south of Mole National Park in Ghana’s Northern Region. The locals initiated a communitybased eco-tourism project in 1992. Its aims are to make visitors welcome, raise awareness about local customs and ways of life, as well as provide some revenue to support the communities economic and social development. At the tourist Information Center, you are welcomed by the staff that will give you adequate information about the community, the traditional culture and the on-going development projects in the area.

All proceeds from the tourist service are for improvement of the local economy. Some projects that will receive benefit include setting up small-scale industries in craft weaving, gari, peanut oil processing as well as community related initiatives. You can obtain a copy of the Larabanga Story and the profile of the BDS project only in the Visitors Center and the Salia Brothers Guest House.
They also organize informative township tours of the village including the Ancient Mosque and the Mystic Stone. The Salia Brothers Guest House provides you with affordable accommodations and unique experience of community life. Stay on the rooftop and watch the stars!
