As we have all spent more time confined to our homes, coloring books for both children and adults have experienced a surge in popularity. Coloring books offer a quiet, unbreakable, and screen-free way to relax and focus on something other than the news. We at CCM thought it would be a good idea to get those creative juices flowing, to let off some steam with our first ever CCM Coloring book with 14 scenes from our beautiful state.

Join us in Hartford, the capitol of Connecticut. Established in 1637, the city is full of history. Completed in 1796, the Old State House is a national historic landmark that blends styles: Federal, Victorian, and Colonial Revival. What other buildings do you spy?

There’s no clowning around here – The Barnum and Bailey circus has its roots in Connecticut by way of founder Phineas Taylor Barnum, born in Bethel and dying in Bridgeport. Did you know that he was also a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for a year?

You may not know this if you’re more of an Apple Watch person, but Connecticut used to be the clock capital of America. The New Haven Clock Company, and the Ansonia Clock Company are gone, but the Waterbury Clock Company still ticks along as Timex

Mmm… is that pizza I smell? Hamburgers? It sure is and they are some of the best food in America. The hamburger was invented in New Haven, and Ted’s Restaurant in Meriden has world famous steamed cheeseburgers. And do we even need to tell you about the apizza?
7YANKEE INGENUITY
A typewriter. A bicycle. A sewing machine. A can opener. What do they all have in common? The all come from the Yankee ingenuity of Connecticut residents. What other inventions can you think of that hail from Connecticut?
8CT CRITTERS
Did you know that Sgt. Stubby is the only dog to ever receive a Medal of Honor? He was the official mascot of the 102nd Infantry Regiment in World War I after they found him wandering the streets of New Haven. Why do birds and insects suddenly appear? IF you know your state animals, it’s easy to find out!
9SEA & SOUND
What is that terrible noise coming from below the water? It is the famous Sperm Whale – the foundation of New London Whaling Industry! While that industry disappeared, what is that you spy underwater? A submarine! From Bushnell’s Turtle in 1775, to Simon Lake’s pioneering work, to Electric Boat today, Connecticut is the submarine capitol of the world. If you color it yellow, you could live there with all your friends!

Still Revolutionary? Connecticut is the Constitution State after all. Follow Nathan Hale on his patriotic path towards independence from Britain –just remember that it was the loyalist forces that wore the Red Coats. Blue is the appropriate color for Hale’s coat!

Whether they were lucky enough to be born here, or they rented a summer house and decided to stay, CT has always attracted Hollywood stars. And our towns, both real and fictional, are the settings for so many movies. Can you name a film set in Connecticut?
CCM is the state’s largest, nonpartisan organization of municipal leaders, representing towns and cities of all sizes from all corners of the state, with 169 member municipalities.
We come together for one common mission — to improve everyday life for every resident of Connecticut. We share best practices and objective research to help our local leaders govern wisely. We advocate at the state level for issues affecting local taxpayers. And we pool our buying power to negotiate more cost-effective services for our communities.
CCM is governed by a board of directors that is elected by the member municipalities. Our board represents municipalities of all sizes, leaders of different political parties and towns/cities across the state. Our board members also serve on a variety of committees that participate in the development of CCM policy and programs.
Federal representation is provided by CCM in conjunction with the National League of Cities. CCM was founded in 1966.
