It feels good to give back. And together with our generous customers and employees, Macy’s averages more than $1 million a week to initiatives important to you and your community – arts, education, the environment, HIV/AIDS, and women’s health and wellness. It adds up to $69 million a year. It’s a good feeling we can all share, and to us, that’s the magic of giving.

SYNOPSIS SYNOPSIS OF SCENES Setting: One night in Paris, France Act I The Petrovenian Embassy, at a party honoring the King of Petrovenia The Petrovenian Ambassador, Baron Zeta, awaits the entrance of the fabulously wealthy Hanna Glawari, who has recently lost her husband. To prevent her fortune from leaving the country, she must be stopped from marrying a foreigner. Hanna, entering glamorously, suspects that the men who welcome her so effusively are after her money. Zeta is so busy worrying about the Fatherland’s treasury that he does not notice the affair between his wife Valencienne and the handsome Frenchman Camille de Rosillion. Zeta sends his secretary Njegus to fetch Count Danilo Danilovitch to the party in the hope that Danilo will marry Hanna and keep her money in Petrovenia. Nejgus finds Danilo at the nightclub Maxim’s—drinking and dancing with the Grisettes—and convinces Danilo to come to the Embassy party. In the past Hanna and Danilo were lovers, but Danilo’s uncle would not allow his nephew to marry a commoner. They meet again—and sparks fly—but Danilo refuses to tell Hanna “I love you,” and they quarrel. But during the last dance of the party, Hanna chooses Danilo; he uses the opportunity to chase all her suitors away. They dance.

Act II Hanna’s garden at her house in Paris Later the same evening the party has moved to Hanna’s luxurious gardens. Hanna entertains her tipsy guests with a Petrovenian folksong and she and Danilo spar again. Fearing that Hanna might be in love with Camille, Danilo—along with the Petrovenian men—bemoans the fickleness of women. Valencienne tries to resist Camille and return to her husband, but instead the two lovers disappear into the garden gazebo. Zeta—after peeking through the keyhole of the gazebo—is outraged to learn his wife is carrying on an affair. But it is Hanna who emerges from the gazebo with Camille—after some quick maneuvering by Njegus. Hanna—wanting to protect Valencienne and provoke jealousy in Danilo—pretends to be engaged to Camille and leads everyone in a celebration of the freedoms of a modern Parisian marriage.

Act III Maxim’s, a nightclub in Paris It is now almost morning and Hanna has arranged for the party to move to Maxim’s—a fabulous nightclub in Paris—and has engaged the famous Grisettes to perform. Valencienne leads the Grisettes in a raucous number and the entire party joins in. Hanna, now sure of Danilo’s feelings, explains to him about the misunderstanding at the gazebo. The two lovers reunite as the music plays. Petrovenia is saved. Hanna’s money stays with the Fatherland and everyone is happy—even Zeta and Valencienne (and Camille).

Friends of CCM Board Member, founded The CCM Harmony Fund: Challenging Hate and Prejudice through Performing Arts The Harmony Fund was created as both an acknowledgement of the continuing existence of hate and prejudice within this civilized world and, more importantly, the ability of the arts to help us better understand and transcend these emotions.

JOHN HARRISON John Harrison is the founder of The CCM Harmony Fund: Challenging Hate and Prejudice through Performing Arts. The arts are truly a language that all people speak; they cut across racial, cultural, social, educational and economic barriers. The CCM Harmony Fund was established to celebrate the language of the arts, encourage conversation and advocate compassion. The fund supports our incredibly talented students and faculty at the College-Conservatory of Music in the media and performing arts in creative and unique ways to promote culturally diverse audiences, and fight hate and prejudice. Mr. Harrison has made provisions in his will to support and continue the mission of The Harmony Fund.

DEC 2, 2015 – Jan 3, 2016 #cinderella Family-Friendly musical. What do you get when you combine a nearsighted bookworm heroine, two fabulously self-absorbed stepsisters, one devilishly diva stepmother, along with a self-empowering Well-Wisher? A fun spin on the classic fairy tale that demonstrates being smart is true beauty! When the King pressures his romantically challenged son to choose a bride from hundreds of “applicants,” a cross-country tour of the kingdom ensues to reunite a missing sneaker—yes a sneaker!—with its rightful owner.
