ON LOCATION SEADRIFT CCS Architecture + Design, established by Architect Cass Calder Smith, AIA has been practicing design in Northern California for more than 25 years. Smith has seen the area increase its international appeal and become more cosmopolitan and contemporary. Still, some of its more original characteristics remain. “It’s completely casual”, Smith says about Stinson. “There is a strong emphasis on the outdoors and how it merges with the everyday.”

Cass Smith’s custom designs include new ground up residences at 151 and 213 Seadrift, a new home under construction at 217, and permits have been obtained for a remodel at 185.

213 Seadrift: CCS recently completed this new 2,100 square foot home in on the Stinson Lagoon in Marin County.

The living room, kitchen and dining room all open up to the lagoon and views, while also opening up to the courtyard to the south.

In addition to the two full bedrooms, there is a “bunk room” for three kids to share, which has three double bunks and one loft, sleeping seven total. Each of the bunks has it’s own small window and reading light.

151 Seadrift: This 1,900 square foot lagoon front house hugs the water and is net-zero in terms of its energy consumption. This is the first house CCS designed in Seadrift.

The home's casual, open plan is designed to accommodate a lot of people throughout the day and seasons.The living area opens completely to large decks in two directions. The shape and size of the decks make them inviting and highly functional, with an intimate courtyard on the sunny, south side.

Under Construction 217 Seadrift: This new, 2,100 SF lagoon front residence is currently under construction. Estimated completion is late 2018.

Under Construction 185 Seadrift: CCS is currently working on the full renovation to this 1,900 square foot mid-century bungalow on the lagoon.

Estimated completion is summer of 2018.
