Roarke Center Mural Unveiling On June 15th, the Roarke Center unveiled The Wall Memorial, a permanent mosaic installation made of ceramic tiles. The mural illustrates participant memories and experiences at the Roarke Center that have impacted their lives. Collaboration and cooperation were outstanding qualities shared by each participant who worked on the project. Artists at the Roarke Center, who are adults living with poverty and participating in the arts program, designed and made all the tiles for the wall. More than 25 artists worked on the piece and in April, the center received a community arts grant from the Arts Center of the Capital Region to help with the project. Jillian is the Guest artist whose focus is public mosaic installations. Mary LaFleur is a potter who is skilled in alternative pottery decor. She is our "expert" on methods of using clay, design, glazing and applique. She facilitated us to share our poetry and thoughts in the mosaic forum. Thank you Sr. Loretta for your leadership on such an impressive project! Pictured: Sr. Loretta Hoag, Jillian Hirsch, & Mary Lafleur More info?
