Tax Season Comes to a Close This years tax season saw record numbers at the VITA Program this year.Preliminary stats for the Albany Chapter of the CA$H Coalition saw 3,558 tax returns prepared free of charge! Here are the stats for Catholic Charities Tri-County Services VITA Program: • 887 Tax Returns Prepared • $1,409,389 in Federal & State Refunds • 230 individuals/families qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) • $435,110 in Federal & State EITC was claimed • $242,151 was saved in professional tax preparation feeds (based on a nationwide average $273 per tax return)
Catholic Charities continued its outreach to international students attending colleges/universities in the Capital Region. Catholic Charities is the only VITA site in the area with volunteers certified to prepare these incredibly complex tax returns. 4 volunteers prepared 25 foreign students this season.
Roarke Center 20th Anniversary Open House On May 3rd the Roarke Center celebrated their 20th Anniversary with an Open House. Local elected officials, community members, volunteers, donors and supporters came out to tour the center and join in wishing Sr. Marian all the best as she stepped down as Coordinator of the Roarke Center. It was a wonderful evening and here's to 20 more years!

Camp Scully Open House Since 1920 Camp Scully has been providing summer camp experiences for all children, regardless of their financial situation. Through the years Camp Scully has seen changes to its program and grounds, including new cabins and an expanded waterfront. Join us at the Camp Scully Open House on Sunday May 21st from Noon to 2pm. All ages are welcome!
