2024/2025 ACDIS Leadership Council Onboarding Guide

Welcome to the 2024/2025 ACDIS CDI Leadership Council term!

On behalf of the ACDIS community, we commend you on your professional accomplishments and on your commitment to continued career development and advancement of the CDI profession.

The ACDIS Leadership Council debuted in September 2019 to connect forward-thinking CDI supervisors, managers, and directors through personalized insight-sharing and networking experiences that forge valuable relationships, advance strategic priorities, and illuminate game-changing trends.

Leadership Council members gain access to a number of benefits and are held to certain participation requirements, which will be covered in more detail in this guide. In short, our offerings include:

• Research insights: The ACDIS Leadership Council is powered by member research and intelligence on mission-critical CDI subjects. Throughout the year, members take up to eight sponsor and editor-designed surveys on topics essential to their work and receive early access to research findings. Members must participate in at least 75% of offered surveys to maintain their Council standing and benefit access.

• Virtual network building: With an exclusive online community and bimonthly members-only calls, plus small-group professional matchmaking opportunities, Council members will have unprecedented, ongoing access to fellow CDI leaders who share their enthusiasm for peer exchange and bring fresh perspective to business challenges and opportunities.

• Custom experiences: Council members receive exclusive invitations to opportunities tailored to their areas of interest and expertise, such as the annual CDI Leadership Exchange. This intimate event brings together up to 40 industry leaders for roundtable-style idea-swapping, problemsolving, and networking in a resort setting. Eligible members are also able to apply for one of the ACDIS Leadership Council Mastermind groups annually. Mastermind groups consist of eight to 10 members who agree to meet bimonthly to discuss member-submitted topics.

2024/2025 Leadership Council Participation Requirements

While Council membership of course comes with a number of benefits (outlined earlier in this document), there are a few participation requirements all members must fulfill on an annual basis in order to remain active and in good standing in the Council.

The primary participation requirement centers on our Leadership Council surveys. The Council is powered by research-driven information sharing and networking, so your answers to the surveys are vital to the Council’s success and growth. Council members must complete 75% of the surveys during their term in order to be eligible for automatic term renewal next year. The first survey will be the 2024 CDI Salary Survey, which will be deployed to Council members in September.

Each survey will be sent to Council members via email as soon as it is available, and the instructions will include a deadline for responding. We recommend responding to the survey as soon as it lands in your inbox so it doesn’t get buried, but I will send out a couple reminders before the deadline to ensure you have an adequate amount of time to respond. Most surveys only take about 10 minutes to complete.

Council members receive credit for the surveys by filling out their contact information on the survey where prompted. Please do not skip this step as we cannot verify your participation otherwise.

The only other requirement for continued Council participation is that you remain working in a CDI leadership role at a healthcare facility/organization. If your role changes, please let ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Linnea Archibald (linnea.archibald@hcpro.com) know as soon as possible so that we can make room for other leaders in our ranks.

2024/2025 Leadership Council CEU Opportunities

One of the major benefits of Council membership is the opportunity to earn continuing education credits (CEU) toward your Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS)/CCDS-Outpatient (CCDS-O) certifications. There are a number of different ways for Council members to earn CEUs throughout the membership term:

• Attend an ACDIS Leadership Council virtual community meeting (1 CEU/6 per membership term): The CEU will be emailed to participants after they complete a brief online evaluation. The evaluation form will be open for two weeks after the live call to allow folks to watch the ondemand version and still receive credit. To qualify, Council members must do at least one of the following participation methods and complete the associated evaluation survey within the twoweek period:

o Attend the full, live meeting: CEU eligibility will be determined based on (1) participants’ attendance of and time spent in the virtual meeting, and (2) participants’ completion of a brief CEU claim form within two weeks of the live meeting date. On meeting months, meetings will be held on the first Friday of the month at 2-3:10 p.m. eastern. You can register for any/all of these meetings here: https://acdis.org/acdisleadership-council/full-group-meetings

o View the full, on-demand meeting recording within two weeks of the meeting’s live broadcast: CEU eligibility will be determined based on (1) the participants’ time spent viewing the video, and (2) participants’ completion of a brief CEU claim form within two weeks of the live meeting date Note that when the recording is available following the live meeting date, Associate Editorial Director Linnea Archibald will notify all Council members.

• Present on a CDI-related topic during a Council full-group virtual meeting (2 CEUs): Council members may claim 2 CEUs for each full-group virtual meeting in which they speak as a panelist or presenter. Note: these CEUs are in lieu of the 1 credit awarded to meeting attendees.

• Write for the CDI Leadership Insider (CLI): Council members may claim 0.5 CEUs per 350 published words of their original work featured in the CLI, the official monthly eNewsletter of the Leadership Council.

From time-to-time, there will be additional CEU opportunities offered to Council members. Linnea Archibald will notify you of these opportunities as they arise via email and verbally during Council meetings.

2024/2025 Leadership Council Involvement Opportunities

There are several ways for Council members to get involved:

• Presenting on our regularly scheduled community meetings (see this page for details on the dates/times: https://acdis.org/acdis-leadership-council/full-group-meetings). Note that this is also a CEU opportunity, which was covered in a previous section.

o How to get involved: Fill out our pitch form to share the topic you’d be interested in covering and in what capacity (e.g., case study presentation, panel discussion, written article, etc.). The pitch form can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LCContribution. ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Linnea Archibald will reach out to folks who have expressed interest as needed to discuss opportunities.

• Writing for the CDI Leadership Insider (CLI), our monthly members-only eNewsletter. This is also a CEU opportunity.

o How to get involved: Fill out our pitch form to share the topic you’d be interested in covering and in what capacity (e.g., case study presentation, panel discussion, written article, etc.). The pitch form can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LCContribution. Linnea Archibald will reach out to folks who have expressed interest as needed to discuss opportunities and timelines.

• Submitting resources to share with other Council members, such as CDI policies, procedures, and educational tools.

o How to get involved: Send the resource you’d like to share along with a brief description of its contents to Linnea Archibald at linnea.archibald@hcpro.com and she’ll get that posted and disseminated to other Council members.

• Posting or answering a question on the dedicated Council ACDIS Forum thread

o How to get involved: Simply use the steps outlined in this tutorial to start posting and commenting on the Forum: https://acdis.org/articles/website-tips-how-participateactively-acdis-forum

We also encourage Council members to get more involved with the broader ACDIS community as well. One of the best ways you can do so is by speaking at a local chapter or networking group event. If you haven’t done so already, we highly recommend you fill out the Online Chapter Roster here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chapter-membership-roster. The form includes a question about your willingness to speak for chapter events, so please indicate your interest there!

From time-to-time, there will be additional involvement opportunities offered to Council members. Linnea Archibald will notify you of these opportunities as they arise via email and verbally during Council meetings.
