CEA Global Campuses are our signature learning environments, designed to meet the needs of U.S. students abroad. Global Campus courses are developed by academic experts and are taught by CEA faculty in our own facilities, which combine technical and student support services under one roof. CEA Global Campuses are centrally located in global cities to maximize your international opportunities to connect with and engage the host city as your living classroom. The CEA Global Alliance offers a unique partnership with Anglo-American University (AAU) in Prague, Czech Republic. AAU and CEA collaborate to provide you with a selection of courses in Business, Economics, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences while you study alongside Czech and other international students. AAU offers you:

Accreditation The University of New Haven (UNH) acts as the School of Record for all Global Campuses, overseeing our course syllabi, curriculum and hiring of international faculty. Based on this rigorous oversight, CEA Global Campus courses are transcripted by UNH, which is accredited by The Commissions on Higher Education of the New England Association for Schools of College.

Active Learning Faculty members integrate local resources, knowledge and expertise by introducing human rights activists, legal experts, government officials and working professionals into class lectures and discussions, transforming them into interactive forums. Alternatively, faculty members will lead you out of the classroom and into the social, cultural and political fabric of Global Campus cities for on-site research, study excursions and active learning.

Cultural Activities CEA Global Education offers you a variety of opportunities to connect with the host city’s culture through activities such as conversation clubs, volunteer programs, gourmet tastings, intramural sports, local festivals and more.

Excursions CEA organizes regular day and overnight trips to culturally and historically relevant destinations outside of the host city, giving you a deeper understanding of not only your host city, but surrounding cultures, populations and landscapes as well.

Local CEA Office CEA offices, equipped with student computers and other helpful resources, give you easy access to international staff for any questions you may have. In locations where offices are unavailable, international staff will make themselves accessible to you through office hours either on campus or at a convenient location in the city.

Convenient Online Application and Planning The MyCEA online tool provides you with a convenient way to manage your pre-departure checklist, complete documents, pay fees and access comprehensive program details.

Finance Professionals Available CEA’s Financial Coordinators are available to help you identify scholarships and grants available for study abroad, as well as navigate your own campus’ financial aid office to help pay for your study abroad program.

Guaranteed Airport Pickup International staff will greet eligible students at the airport and escort them to their housing.

Hosted Group Introductions International staff will host a group dinner or reception for all students during the first and last weeks of the program.

Your On-Site Orientation You will go through an extensive orientation program covering, but not limited to, academic issues, safety matters, CEA Global Education policies, a program overview, public transportation and a city tour.

Tuition and Registration Support CEA Global Education takes care of administrative and registration processes, as well as payment of tuition fees, at the host institution on behalf of students.

Modern Facilities CEA Global Education provides students with access to computer labs, language labs, video screening rooms, sports facilities, Internet access and more, depending on availability at your location.

Your Official Transcript CEA will send an official transcript for the completed CEA program to the student or to the student’s home institution.

Our newest Global Campus in Buenos Aires offers courses in a variety of subject areas taught in English as well as Spanish language courses for all proficiency levels. The curriculum taps Buenos Aires as your living classroom through visits to museums, local companies and NGOs. A Closer Look: Green Island, Queensland Green Island is a “Don’t Miss!” experience for students heading to Cairns in northern Australia. Known to the local Gungganyji Aboriginal peoples as Dabuukji, it has been a popular tourist destination for more than a century. The island is a 6,000-year-old coral cay, which is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park World Heritage area and is the only cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rain forest. The island offers a wide variety of ways to explore the wonders both above and below the water, including snorkeling, underwater sea-walking, scuba diving, glass bottom boat tours, eco-walks, parasailing and scenic helicopter flights.

A Cultural Perspective: The Chilean Riviera If you love sun, sand, and surf, you will love Viña del Mar. This beautiful city is known for its relaxing atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The warm Mediterranean-style climate has earned the city the nickname the Chilean Riviera. It also is referred to as the Orange County of Chile because of all the high-rise condos, American style homes, and surfing enthusiasts located along a seaside highway not unlike the Pacific Coast Highway. There are so many amazing beaches in Viña del Mar, it will be hard to decide which to visit. The large selection of restaurants and shops along the sidewalk make Playa Renaca one of the more popular beaches. If you enjoy swimming, the calm waters of Playa Cochoa and Playa Caleta Abarca make these beaches ideal. If you are in Viña del Mar during the third week of February, you won’t want to miss the International Song Festival, the most popular music festival in Latin America. This fun and exciting event began 51 years ago as a platform for emerging stars to showcase their talent. The format of the event has shifted from a traditional musical festival to more of an awards show. There is a pop song and folk song competition, where the audience, known as “The Monster,” decides through their reaction of Franz Ferdinand, Performing at the 2006 International Song Festival cheering or booing if the performer wins an award or is taken off stage. International music stars from around the world entertain the audience between the competitive performances. Some stars who have performed in the past include Journey, Nelly Furtado and Earth, Wind & Fire.

A Cultural Perspective: A City in Celebration Czech is not the only language you’ll hear in Prague these days. From its comparative isolation during the period of Communist rule, Prague has resumed its role as a cosmopolitan center of arts and culture. Whether it’s Indian film, Japanese fashion, or African food, you’ll find an international festival, conference, or event for it each year in Prague. Each fall sees an international design and fashion show roll into town, bringing some of the world’s top designers and their newest creations with it. A Bollywood film festival showcases the year’s best from India and Hollywood’s biggest stars come to the Czech Republic each summer for the international film festival in the historic spa town of Karlovy Vary. A Cultural Perspective: Provence’s Tradition of Wine Making Wine has been produced in the Provence region ever since the Greeks settled there in 600 BC! Throughout Provence’s history many cultures have flocked to the region including Romans, Gauls, Catalans, and Savoyards, bringing with them diverse groups of grapes. Over the years this has led to the production of a variety of unique wines. Sixty-five percent of the wine made in appellation Coteaux d’Aix en Provence is red, 30 percent is rose, and 5 percent is white. With dozens of wineries across the country to visit and tour, you are sure to learn the role wine plays in French culture. CEA students can learn about a variety of wines from different regions of France while sampling cheeses and French cold cuts. Not sure how to sample wine? Don’t worry; you will have the chance to visit some of the local vineyards, where you will learn the art of wine tasting!

A Cultural Perspective: Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore The dome of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, just two blocks from the CEA Global Campus, became an icon and symbol of the city upon its completion in 1461. From the Renaissance era to today, Florentines proudly say that they were born “in the shadow” of their beloved “cupola”. Florentine Filippo Brunelleschi, the dome’s architect, designed and personally oversaw its construction. Recognized immediately as an architectural and engineering feat, the dome was the largest built since antiquity, and is today one of the largest cathedral domes in the world. Scaffolding for the construction of such a massive structure proved to be a major challenge, but Brunelleschi turned this potential difficulty into an opportunity to make himself a name in history forever. He not only built the dome, but he also developed a way to construct it without any interior scaffolding. Furthermore, the dome’s design embodied a tenet central to Renaissance thought: the integration of art and science. The dome is thus a fitting symbol of Florentine genius.

A Cultural Perspective: Rome’s Colosseum The Colosseum in Rome is one of the most recognizable monuments in the world, and the most impressive to modern visitors of the Eternal City. Those features that still invoke awe today – the structure’s incredible size and clever design – were actually part of its function during antiquity. The Colosseum was the entertainment center for the Ancient Roman public, where emperors could showcase in their capital city the political and economic power they held throughout the entire Roman Empire. Before roaring crowds, gladiators battled one another, and prisoners were pitted against ferocious wild animals from foreign lands.

The Colosseum is a 15 minute Metro ride from the Rome Global Campus. As a CEA Rome student, you will have the opportunity to visit this magnificent ancient structure and to imagine the spectacles it hosted centuries ago. Guadalajara is the cradle of Mariachi music and the home of the Mexican hat dance. Over the last five centuries, it has grown to be the third largest university in Spain. A Cultural Perspective: Real Madrid Soccer Nothing screams “Viva Spain!” louder than its soccer fans! This summer, CEA students enjoyed experiencing what it’s like to root for the home team while visiting beloved Madrid and watching Spain win its first-ever World Cup. The World Cup 2010 Finals proved truly exciting this summer in South Africa as both teams were playing for a first-ever World Cup trophy for their country. After both teams failed to score early on, the finals went into extra time with Spain’s Andres Iniesta dramatically kicking the ball mid-air into team Netherland’s net. The following award ceremony proved emotional as Spain now holds both the European championship and World Cup trophies! CEA students in Madrid can continue to enjoy the excitement of Spanish soccer (fútbol) while watching the local team, Real Madrid, play at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu (pictured).

Agreement & Release 1. I understand that my participation in a study abroad program (“Program”) organized by CULTURAL EXPERIENCES ABROAD, INC. (“CEA”), an Illinois corporation, is contingent on CEA’s review and acceptance of my CEA Application (“Application”). 2. I acknowledge that I have read and accept the terms and conditions set forth in CEA’s Polices, available on CEA’s Web site at www.GoWithCEA.com/policies, which are incorporated herein by reference and which constitute part of this Application. This agreement is a legally binding contract. 3. I acknowledge that I may engage in activities that involve risk of loss of property, personal injury, illness or death. I hereby assume all of the foregoing risks and I release, waive, discharge and agree to hold harmless CEA and its officers, directors, employees and agents from any loss or liability in any way relating thereto. I unconditionally release CEA from any claims for damage, injury, loss or expense of any nature resulting from events beyond its control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, strikes, crime, terrorism, sickness, or quarantine, government restrictions or regulations. This release also applies to any losses arising from the use of any vehicle or from the selection of, or from any act or omission by, any housing agency, host family, travel agency, transportation provider, hotel or excursion provider, host institution, company or individual. 4. I understand that I will be traveling to a foreign country, with different customs, standards, laws and risks than I am unaccustomed to. I understand and acknowledge that (a) I may become sick or injured while participating in a Program; (b) I may be arrested or imprisoned if I do not conform to local laws; (c) there exists crime in foreign countries and that I may be a victim of crime; and (d) I may not agree with local customs and standards. I accept the above-described risks and other risks associated with travel in, to and among foreign countries. I understand that I am responsible for exercising caution and common sense at all times and that CEA is not responsible for my safety or acts of third parties, and I agree to release and not hold CEA responsible for any such problems I encounter in a Program. 5. I understand that as a Participant in the Program, I will be residing in housing arranged by CEA. I also understand that during the Program orientation, housing practices will be explained to me and a housing contract will be presented. I agree to abide by the terms of this Agreement and Release as well as any additional agreements or contracts required during the pendency of the program. In particular, and with respect to housing, I acknowledge and understand that I am solely responsible for my own possessions and safety of those possessions and, that CEA is not responsible for theft or burglary of my possessions, nor is CEA responsible for lost or misplaced possessions of mine at any time. I also acknowledge that it is my sole responsibility, relating to my personal possessions, that I inquire from my insurance company, whether any particular property or rental insurance policy I maintain or that are maintained for me, cover my possessions, will be valid in the location of my study abroad program, and if not, that if I wish for my possessions to be insured, that it is my sole responsibility to deal with insurance providers who will cover my possessions in the location of my study abroad program, and it is my sole responsibility to understand, make available, or obtain coverage for my personal possessions in the location of my study abroad program. 6. If I am sick or injured while participating in the Program, I authorize CEA to take such action as it considers necessary to secure treatment and/or transportation back to the United States. I release CEA from any liability relating to this medical care. I agree to provide the name of an Emergency Contact whom CEA may contact should CEA deem it necessary. If CEA incurs an expense on my behalf that is not covered by insurance, I agree to make immediate repayment upon my return. I hereby acknowledge that this Application does not create any affirmative duty or responsibility for CEA to take any action should I become sick or injured while participating in a Program. 7. I also authorize release to CEA, through my signature below, protected health and mental health records, such release expiring on completion of the Program. By signing below and providing this release, I understand that: • I can revoke this Authorization at any time by giving my written revocation to the Disclosing Provider/Covered Entity. My revocation is not effective as to disclosures already made and actions already taken in reliance upon this Authorization. • I can refuse to sign this Authorization, and the disclosing provider/plan may NOT condition treatment, enrollment in the health plan or eligibility for benefits on whether I sign this Authorization. • I am authorizing disclosure of information protected under federal law. This information, once disclosed, may be subject to re-disclosure by the recipient and may no longer be protected by state and federal law. • I may ask the provider/covered entity for a copy of the protected health information being disclosed under this Authorization.

• I will be provided with a signed copy of this Authorization. • A photostatic copy of this document shall have the same effect as the original of same. Authorization to release health and mental health records does not create an affirmative duty or obligation for CEA to do a background check of Applicant as Applicant remains obligated to be honest and forthright, and not omit or misrepresent information requested. CEA reserves the right to obtain records pursuant to this release, within the applicable period, in the event of ambiguity of information, disputes or unanticipated or unusual conduct exhibited during the Program. 8. I will comply with all CEA’s Policies, including its rules, standards, instructions and practices for program participation behavior, including housing. I understand that failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the Program. If dismissed, I understand that (a) the cost of returning home is my own expense, and (b) I will not receive a refund of any kind. I understand that my participation may be terminated if I am expelled from school, deemed academically ineligible by the school, or otherwise disciplined by school or civil authorities, or if CEA, in its sole discretion, determines that my conduct is incompatible with the safety or welfare of other participants and/or myself, or, in any way undermines the Program. I agree to indemnify CEA if I do anything that causes CEA to sustain financial loss or liability. 9. I understand that CEA requires all participants to enroll in the CEA insurance plan. I understand it provides insurance coverage for my benefit while in the Program, including health, accident and accidental death insurance. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to understand the limitations of this coverage and agree that CEA is not responsible for any uninsured losses. 10. I understand that CEA reserves the absolute right to reject my application or dismiss me from a Program if, after acceptance, CEA learns of a condition (personal, medical, academic and/or psychological) which in the reasonable opinion of CEA may endanger me or others, and/or puts me at risk in a foreign country, and/or shows a history of an inability to adapt to challenging situations, and/or creates or requires burdens and resources not required or necessary to maintain other students. 11. I understand that CEA occasionally uses statements made by its students and/or their photographs in marketing materials on the web and in print. I consent to such use of my statements or photographs of me. I agree that CEA may add my name and e-mail address to an e-mail distribution list which will be shared by other participants on my Program, unless I notify CEA in writing otherwise. 12. I authorize CEA to release my Application and supporting documentation to my host institution(s), my home institution(s), their personnel and CEA Staff. 13. I understand that CEA or the sponsoring academic institution reserves the right to make changes, cancellations or substitutions to the Program for insufficient enrollment, emergency or changed conditions or based upon the interest of the group. I understand that any expenses incurred due to these changes, cancellations or substitutions are at my expense. If I choose to leave the Program as a result of these changes, I understand there will be no refund of program fees or of any expenses already paid. 14. I understand that obtaining a passport and any other required travel documents is my sole responsibility. Whether I am a U.S. citizen or not, I shall hold CEA harmless in the event I cannot or choose not to obtain the necessary documents for participation in the Program. I understand that the inability to obtain these visas and other documents does not constitute grounds for a refund or waiving any program fees. 15. Any action or suit brought relating to this Application or my participation in a Program must be commenced and maintained in the appropriate state court of Arizona, located in Phoenix, Arizona or a Federal district court located in Phoenix, Arizona as applicable. The parties irrevocably consent to jurisdiction and venue in such courts for such purposes and agree not to seek transfer or removal of any action commenced in any such court, and agree that Arizona law applies irrespective of any conflict of laws analysis. In the event either party hereto institutes an action or other proceedings to enforce any rights arising under this Application, the party prevailing in such action or other proceeding will be paid all reasonable costs and attorney’s fees by the other party. Such fees are to be set by the court and not by a jury and to be included in any judgment or award entered in such proceeding. 16. References in this agreement to “Applicant”, or “I”, shall include the Applicant, any legal guardian or parent of the Applicant, and the Applicant’s spouse and heirs. References in this Agreement to “CEA” shall include Cultural Experiences Abroad, Inc., and its subsidiaries, and all of its officers, directors, employees, agents, interns, representatives, group leaders and host school officials.

I (or if I am a minor, my undersigned parent or legal guardian) certify that all of the information I have provided on this Application is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge and I agree to inform CEA as soon as I learn of any error or change to this information. I understand that any misrepresentation, irrespective of whether innocent or intentional, may result in rejection of my application and dismissal from the CEA Program, irrespective of whether the Program commenced or not. I agree with the above Agreement and Release, including but not limited to paragraph 6 above. I acknowledge that the terms and conditions outlined in CEA’s Policies constitute part of my agreement with CEA including but not limited to sections concerning program costs, payment obligations, program changes, housing, and student code of conduct.
