Worksheet and Planning Guide This program is designed to take advantage of Costa Rica’s natural elements. Students spend most of their time “in the field,” learning firsthand about various sites through activities such as a night tour at Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and volunteering at the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge. Students process their learning through research, journals, and final presentations.

A group of Fine Arts faculty developed this immersive, four-week program exploring the global impact of integrated arts, such as architecture, theater, studio arts, and music. Students delve into the applied theory of the creative arts, with an emphasis on connections between genres. For instance, visits to the Paris Opera House allow students to experience how architecture affects theatrical and musical performances. The program’s capstone includes team-based research and presentations on noteworthy sites that exemplify the integrated arts in Paris.

“We decided to work with CEA when we realized the wealth of benefits and opportunities the organization brought to the table. …We are looking forward to partnering with CEA again. This time we plan to take advantage of even more of what they have to offer, including using more of their fabulous experts/faculty, the integration of a French class for our students, and more excursions. Students in this semester program experience the best of both worlds; classes taught in Spanish by local faculty and courses taught by OU faculty deliver a unique “OU Experience” in Buenos Aires. CEA Buenos Aires staff incorporate experiential learning and cultural activities that enhance the student learning experience. For instance, students enjoy private visits to the century-old Colón Theatre; the historic La Recoleta Cemetery, home to architecturally diverse marble mausoleums and Eva Peron’s final resting place; and the vibrant La Boca neighborhood.
