A. What’s Up! I’m Jessica Ray, singer/songwriter/dancer.

Q. Can you tell us some skills you learned that has helped you in your singing career?

A. Man I have learned so many but off the top of my head, Writing songs that come from a place that is relatable not only for myself but to my audience as well Professionalism, Graphic Design - I’m no professional but I know enough to make quick promotional material, The art of performing.

Q. What has been the best performance of your career so far?

A. I recently did a Virtual Performance Called Raw that I truly believe was by best overall performance yet. From the quality, the band, the dancers, wardrobe, hair & makeup, lightening, cinematography. I was very proud of this show!

Q. Tell us about your new single and the motivation behind the song?

A. I have two New singles out One entitled “Back in Love”, released November 10th, that I am featured on with the incredibly talented Brandon Lewis. This song is simply about not giving up on love. Thanks To Felly (writer) and Blac Elvis (Producer) along with the musical chemistry and friendship Brandon and I have it made a Dope R&B record. Also, I released my latest record “Fingertips” released November 20th. Also written and produced by super duo Felly and Blac Elvis, this song gives all the vibes. This is the perfect song to cuddle to or just reminisce of that special person in your life.

Q. How do you cope with being away from home for long periods?

A. I haven’t had to deal with that as much, especially during this pandemic, however when I have been away for an extended period of time it hasn’t been as bad as some may think. With all the technology that we have at our fingertips is easy to keep in touch with loved ones back home.

Q. What do you think is missing in today’s R&B music?

A. Good love songs. I do believe they are coming back but for awhile it seemed to all be about sex and money (which ain’t bad lol) but us girls like to be romanced! And I know my fellas like to hear us stroke their ego. However, there are artist out there that are bringing that back like H.E.R.

Q. Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

A. As far as music is concerned Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. They are the reason I fell in love with the art of performing. Giving the fans a SHOW! My parents! They have shown me the value of hard work, professionalism and never giving up on something I believe and I will forever take that with me and so far has helped me in every aspect of my life

A. Fun Fact: My dad is bass player who has played on the songs “Ring My Bell” and “Down Home Blues” and countless other records that have become standards.
