HORSES CARINA MAC LAUGHLAN
CLAN OF VAGABONDS
SINCE TEN YEARS, Carina Mac Laughlan is an equine fine art photographer, highly dedicated in abused horse rehabilitation. Carina is fully devoted to the horses brought to light in her pictures. She offers healing, respect, and a peaceful existence, to those exploited by humans.
Carina has made a pact with these horses. However, there is no self-sacrifice for this tall woman, true to her convictions; she’s caring and curious. This Scottish woman moved her Clan of horses in burgundy/France, 10 years ago. Carina’s Clan? A herd of six stallions and a few vagabond horses that she was able to rescue. Like this donkey foal who has chosen Callum, a beautiful Lusitano stallion to become his guardian, his punching-bag, his mother, his father and above all his buddy.
Renowned worldwide, awarded by several international contests, including Ar(t) horse Saumur /France in 2008 and 2009 and the international photography competition of Equestrian Art Moscow /Russia in 2009. Celebrated for her uncommon approach to horse photography, Carina Mac Laughlan’s creative work will at last become a book to be enjoyed and shared by most horse lovers. Creations of this distinctive artist feature close up pictures of wonderful inspiring horses, sunlight only pictures, taken without zoom or wide angle. This art work reveals stunning stallions’ natural beauty, explores their souls, and reveals their essence and reminds us that horse is man’s noblest conquest, a conquest which requires respect and awareness.
RESPECT Although Carina’s horses were convicted, she emancipated them and provides harmony and compassion to their wildness. She witnessed their recovery, after they have been discarded, misunderstood or left to die ; they improved and became breathtaking. Her secret: a conjunction of mutual respect, care, loyalty and faithful love, always keeping in mind that they are horses. No more, no less.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE BOOK This beautiful 200 Page “coffee table book”, includes photographs and texts by the artist, relating how these horses and this woman came together, for the better and to avoid the worst. We plan to publish this book both in United Kingdom and in France and launch it with an exhibition.
