CEDIA Certification is recognised throughout the industry and increasingly by construction professionals, as the established mark of quality and expertise within the residential custom installation sector. CEDIA Certification brings the industry in line with other construction professionals by introducing recognised mandatory qualifications. It also gives prospective clients the confidence to appoint CEDIA Certified businesses and provides the installer with a competitive edge.
ceU Points For CEDIA Members, attending both CEDIA’s own courses and those presented by manufacturers, you can be rewarded with important CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) to help maintain this valued accreditation. Many CEDIA courses at this year’s Expo have a CEU allocation attached to them. This is to help certified individuals meet the requirement of gaining 30 CEU points within the three-year period following gaining their certified status. Please note that CEU points are only valid once certification has been gained.
...and it keeps going!

The Intuitive Home: A look at 2016 – The future technology and market conditions for the CEDIA ESP member. For those in the CEDIA field, the term smart home has been around for years. As we move towards entry level/ commoditised home automation, the term smart home will only increase. The truth is however, that most smart homes are not smart, instead they are very well designed homes designed and installed by smart electronic systems contractors. However, in the near future, with the internet of things, IPv6, 6LoWPAN, RFID devices and cloud based offerings will allow artificial intelligence create the next generation of smart home, called “The Intuitive Home.” Through facial recognition, voice control, smart grid, robotics and sophisticated analytics, the intuitive home will be able to make the home significantly more energy efficient while recognising its occupant’s likes and dislikes, enabling a more comfortable and interactive home. This year’s keynote session will cover the emerging technologies and applications, which are either just hitting the market, or are currently in research and development, which will usher in the era of the intuitive home in the next 5-10 years.
Become a CEDIA Certified Professional CEDIA Professional Certification allows technicians and designers the chance to qualify and quantify what they know and demonstrate that they are committed to maintaining the highest quality standards for performance. The skills necessary in sales take many forms. This interactive and collaborative workshop will concentrate on the art of delivering exceptional presentations, be they to an individual, or a room full of potential clients. As well as practical tips for delivering a presentation, the seminar will focus on ensuring there is clarity and high-impact to the message being delivered. In an incredibly technical world, it is essential to be able to communicate the essence of the product or service being sold and this seminar will help you do just that. Working collaboratively, the seminar is largely a Powerpoint free zone and will concentrate on developing a presentation style that creates an amazing first impression and conveys professionalism.
Designing Control for Mobile Devices and Tablets Code: Time: Presenter: Organisation: CEU Value:
ET-1091 Wednesday 3:00pm – 5:00pm Peter Aylett Home Technology Associates 1.0
Apple products have become the sexy touch-points of the industry. Touch screen phones and tablets have become both pervasive, and entirely accepted by consumers. Barely a product launch goes by without an ‘App’ being launched to allow control from a mobile device. In a world where margins on high value, limited distribution touch screens are being eroded it is critical that the industry not only embraces the mobile device revolution, but uses it to develop ever more thrilling user experiences for clients. This seminar will discuss using mobile devices for both control and media. We will be looking at integration best practices, the importance and realities of robust wireless network design, and the changes needed in both sales and technical design mindsets to embrace the revolution. Be prepared to contribute your experiences of not only what has worked well, but also what has gone wrong when integrating mobile devices into your systems.
Embracing the Cloud Code: Time: Presenter: Organisation: CEU Value:
ET-1094 Friday 10:00am – 12:00pm Peter Aylett Home Technology Associates 1.0
EaaS (Everything as a Service) is a concept being quickly embraced by the corporate world to remove both storage and processing power from offices, and host them on servers living in ‘The Cloud’. This seminar takes a look at the most applicable Cloud based technologies for residential Custom Installations. It focuses on the practicalities of using the Cloud for storing, delivering and sharing content, be it music, movies, photos or data like personal contacts and diaries. As well as the services, we will be discussing the physical layer necessary to deliver them reliably as well as suggesting how companies need to move to being providers of service. During this seminar, attendees will gain a clear overview of Cloud services, their history, what the future might offer and what it all means to the availability and security of their customers data, media and communications.

“I attended a CEDIA Business Training session taken by Utz Baldwin at the 2009 CEDIA Expo in Sydney Australia. We implemented some of the strategies from that course and now the company has a culture of teamwork, supreme customer service and uncompromising workmanship. With the business doubling its turnover in the last two years, my renewed trust in the team has prevented my capacity to deal with workload from becoming a bottleneck. Without CEDIA Training, our company would not be what it is and where it is today, despite the recession.” – Bruce Cox, Liquid Automation
