Welcome Welcome to CEDIA Expo 2012 in Brisbane. We are so pleased to support this great state and bring the best the industry has to offer to a new location and a new audience. This year’s Expo is dominated by new markets and new audiences. Within CEDIA’s world of automation and integration, there is constant advancement in the residential home sector. CEDIA Expo provides the marketplace to discover, enjoy and embrace these new technologies and the innovative way in which they are delivered to the end user. To convey this Expo is ONE BIG showcase of the latest product would be somewhat of an understatement. Visit the FREE ‘Wot’s Hot @ the Show’ sessions for a teaser of what’s on offer. An essential benefit for attendees is the Educational Sessions and Free Future Technologies Area presentations by acclaimed national and international speakers. Those who have been lucky enough to train with international THX expert John Dahl in the past few days will know what I mean and industry guru’s Rich Green, Peter Aylett and David Pedigo have come to these sunny shores to shake things up too! If you haven’t already, take advantage of the massive savings and register now for the CEDIA Education Pass at the CEDIA registration desk in Hall 3; get in on the action. 2012 brings to us a whole range of courses organised to help YOU make smarter decisions in Business Growth, Emerging Trends, Operational Excellence, Forging Alliances and Technical Excellence. Back by popular demand, Thursday morning is CEDIA’s Keynote Industry Breakfast. Start your day surrounded by the best minds in the industry asking the big questions about its future direction. Featuring David Pedigo, CEDIA’s Senior Director of Technology, this year we consider ‘The Intuitive Home; a look at the CEDIA Electronic Systems Professional of 2016’. With over 14 new exhibitors and 15 new educational courses at this year’s expo you will be immersed in developing and emerging technologies. Cloud delivery, networked home energy, video streaming and home health care are being presented by Australia’s finest distributors and world-wide manufacturers unveiling the best of the best. Discover ways to integrate your clients intimate relationship with their smart phone, web tablet and CE products into your designs and see how the industry is embracing these relative newbie’s; sparking new business start ups, as well as exponential growth for many existing companies. Queensland is a big state with big possibilities; on offer this year is the co-location with Build & Design QLD Expo (the DesignBuild and DesignEx Expo for Queensland) and the Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Conference ‘Experience’. Encourage your business team to break away from the everyday and broaden your contacts by networking with key industry partners. It’s your week. Finally, it’s not an event without you, so thank you for attending. Make 2012 your year and Brisbane the best CEDIA Expo ever!

Brand Navigator 2012 “We define a brand as a trademark, which to consumers represents a particular and appealing set of values and attributes. It’s much more than a product. Products are made in a factory. A product becomes a brand only when it stands for a host of tangible, intangible and psychological factors. A key point to remember is that brands are not created by the manufacturer. They exist only in the eye of the beholder, the customer.” —Charles Brymer, CEO of Interbrand Schecter Navigate your way through some of the best brands in the business, listed A to Z...

New CEDIa White papers frEE for members!

CEDIA has released the first white paper in a new series titled "mobile Devices in residential Systems Integration." The past few years have seen an amazing rise in the adoption of mobile devices as a user interface. The current challenge for electronic systems professionals (ESp) is finding the most efficient and reliable way to incorporate mobile devices into their existing and new system designs. To address these challenges, CEDIA is creating a series of white papers that both examine and recommend best practices for the adoption of mobile devices as a core part of a company’s strategy for a converged internet-protocol ecosystem in the home. This first white paper focuses on why an ESp business needs an enterprise-grade wireless infrastructure strategy.

“Mobile device integration is a very real part of our industry’s future. It’s not going away,” says David pedigo, CEDIA’s Senior Director of Technology. “Through these white papers, we hope to provide our members and the industry with guidance to navigate this emerging market opportunity.”

Other White papers include; • HDMI Installation Best Practices • HDMI Design and Initialisation Sequence • Introduction to HDMI Interface • Dimming LED Lamps • Multi-Room Audio Cabling Standard • Understanding EDID • HDMI Troubleshooting • Wireless Security

ET-1091 Wednesday 3:00pm – 5:00pm Peter Aylett Home Technology Associates 1.0

Apple products have become the sexy touch-points of the industry. Touch screen phones and tablets have become both pervasive and entirely accepted by consumers. Barely a product launch goes by without an ‘App’ being launched to allow control from a mobile device. In a world where margins on high value, limited distribution touch screens are being eroded it is critical that the industry not only embraces the mobile device revolution, but uses it to develop ever more thrilling user experiences for clients. Changing the way custom installers do business

Some Reasons to Switch to SnapAV today REASON #1: EXPECT NO INTERNET SALES To protect our dealers, SnapAV strictly forbids any re-selling of its products on the internet.

REASON #2: EXPECT TO MAKE A PROFIT REASON #72: EXPECT LOYALTY The list to who we sell to is short::Custom Installers

REASON #105: EXPECT PRODUCTS THAT ARE IN STOCK You need to be able to GET a product to SELL and INSTALL a product.

REASON #163: EXPECT AN ORDERING PROCESS NOT FROM THE STONE AGES

Thanks to an intuitive and intelligent website you’ll never be in the dark about a product’s features, specifications or capabilities. Order 24/7, every day of the year and no matter if you place the order online, over the phone, via fax or email, the process will take minutes.

EXPECT REASONS WE HAVEN’T EVEN THOUGHT OF YET! See you at CEDIA Expo Stand 48!
