01 Urbanism: Recreation Within Reach Children in East Boston were found playing on the streets or parking lot, while the Constitution Beach is only five minutes away. This is a result of ineffective connection between the residential area to the recreational spaces.
1.1
Disconnected Recreational Space The train tracks in East Boston has cut off the street access for the residents to access its green spaces

Program Distribution An urban forestry is introduced to the site where it meets the highway. As it slowly moves away, public programs become more specialized for residents
1.5
Residential Residences are elevated away from the public ground. The public level provides green spaces, market space and retail stores for the neighbourhood
1.6
Marsh The Marsh does not only remediate the heavily industrialized site, it also becomes a buffer between public programs and private buildings
1.3
Recreational Space as a Transition Instead of having recreational space as a destination, it is more effective to have it as a trasitional space. In that way, users will be able to access the space easily at any time of the day
