This design was developed in addition to the project scope as a personal portfolio piece. The project is currently at SD phase, where the project architect (a.k.a. the owner) has developed several schemes for passive design study.

The proposed scheme is approached with the “Raumplan” design theory, where the surrounding open space is utilized for maximizing different programs’ headroom within the restricted building height. It also promotes a continuous circulation that connects through the existing level to its sunken garden below.
SOUTH ELEVATION
Birchgrove Sydney, Australia This single-family home is located in a historic district near Sydney CBD. The frontal masonry structure will be preserved, and the new extension will replace an existing 1-storey wooden structure and an outdoor crawl space. A level difference of 1.5m and 2m occurs on the transverse and longitudinal section respectively.

An adaptive retail space that also functions as gallery, workshop, and social gathering point in Mong Kok, HK. By utilizing stackable furniture modules and raised platform, the retail space is capable of hosting various events, where supplies and specialty equipments could be effortlessly rearranged, stored, and concealed. An Adaptive Reuse Shophouse Cluster for Local Artisan Situated in the center of Mong Kok, the shophouse cluster is revitalized by Urban Renewal Authority (URA) for commercial and cultural development in Hong Kong. The Ceramic Studio is located in one of the Pre-war Shophouses (Grade 2 Historic Building). Particularly, this building’s exterior wall, facade and cloister are fully preserved. Alteration and attachments are strictly prohibited from these elements.
