RPD TO get HORSES
birth to five fund raiser to happen march 24
The Richmond Police Department is looking for local sponsors in order to get a mounted patrol set up in Richmond.
The Birth to Five group is hosting “Dancing with the Stars” as one of their fund raisers. The event will be held at the Leland Ballroom from 6:00-10:00 pm on March 24, 2012. The Indiana University East Ballroom Dance Team will be there performing, as well. There will also be a silent auction at the event.
The money donated to this cause would provide the Richmond Police Department with adequate and quality equipment including saddles, riding pants, and other safety equipment. Having a mounted patrol would enhance safety measures in the downtown Richmond area for all of our businesses, and in particular, the Historic Depot District.
Birth to Five is looking for items to be donated to the silent auction as well as sponsors. People can pay to
vote for their favorite dancing couple before the dance-off or after. The money collected from the votes will be used to benefit Birth-to-Five’s early childhood and parenting programs. Please call Portia Villafuerte, Executive Director for Birth to Five, at (765) 966-6080, (765) 965-5254 for Spanish, or by e-mail at info@ mybirthtofive.org for more information. Come out and support Birth to Five with this fun event!
For questions or donations, visit the Richmond Police Department between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday or call the police department at (765) 983-7247 and ask for Lt. Donnie Benedict.
