good food, great people The Annual Community Picnic will be held this year on Thursday, September 15 from 11:00am to 1:30pm on East Main Street. Advanced ticket sales will be $3.00 and can be purchased at The Innovation Center, or you can pick up your tickets the day of the picnic for $4.00. Meals will consist of a hamburger or hotdog, a side item, chips, a cookie, and a drink with local celebrities manning the grill.

The Starr-Gennett Foundation and Richmond Parks and Recreation will host the Gennett Walk of Fame Music Fest: Mo’Blues on September 10, 2011 from 11:00am-10:00pm. There will be local musicians (including Randy Baker and The Groove Doctors). There will also be Battle of the Blues, a performance from the Starr-Gennett Youth Troupe, food vendors, artists, and a beer garden. All of the daytime concerts and activities prior to 6:30pm are FREE to the public. Tickets for the Blues Battle Finale and Legacy Concert are $15 at the door, or $10 in advance or with a student ID. Children under 12 will be admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased at Starr-Gennett Foundation, Wayne County Foundation, the Tourism Bureau, Richmond Furniture Gallery, Lamplight at the Leland Inn, and online at: http://starrgennett.eventbrite.com.
