Trad&Now national club, dance and radio network Festivals usually only happen once a year but every month and often more often than that, there are thousands of people around Australia regularly involved with various types of folk clubs, dance groups, bush poetry groups and folk radio programs. Some of these people are listeners, dancers and/or spectators as without them, there would be no purpose to what the remaining hundreds of voluntary workers are doing regularly, often every week. These voluntary workers are the lifeblood of the folk movement in Australia and it is often those same people that organise the festivals as well. Following is a listing of many of these organisations so that readers can know what there is to choose from in their own area and what they

can consider doing when travelling. This information, published nationally, is there for readers and musicians to be able to contact clubs to perform, attend club nights, attend dance group sessions, provide clubs and dance groups with relevant local event information, put you in touch with local folk radio programmes and generally include all organisations in the loop for information that readers and members may be interested in. By working together and developing cross promotional activity such as this, all involved will benefit. General awareness of activities, as well as attendances, will increase, individual group activities will become better known and a link will be developed with nearby, relevant groups that will help all involved get more members through

more publicity. This listing acts as a source of information for touring musicians looking to perform in your area, touring dancers, poets and fans looking for a club to visit or for locals looking for something different to do in their own area. Hopefully, by working together in this way, we are able to help the folk dance, poetry and music movement further develop within Australia. At the same time, we are providing local and national recognition of the work being done by countless volunteers around the country and making it a more worthwhile activity by getting more people involved. If your group or radio program is not listed, send us the infomation, see page 3 for details
