Our local chapter partners with both Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hospital in Richmond and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals in Richmond, Fredericksburg and Petersburg. These facilities provide physical therapy for MS clients, educational programs and meeting space for self help groups.
MS Clinics
We are very fortunate to have two clinics that specialize in caring for clients with MS. Moving To Succeed
Thanks to the generosity of donors and grants we are able to provide financial assistance and care management to our clients. We help with a wide range of family expenses like utilities, rent, transportation and more. We also partner with community resources to improve the quality of life for people living with MS. We build ramps, provide respite care and exercise classes. Our care management program offers a more comprehensive assessment and professional intervention for MS clients with greater needs.

Educational Scholarships
sor of MS research in the world. We support research and training projects aimed at finding the cause of MS, better treatments and a cure. The Society also identifies promising areas of research and promotes activity in those areas. Since the Society’s founding in 1946, its cumulative investment in research has surpassed half a billion dollars.
In 2009 we provided 4 college scholarships, totaling $6,500 to students in our service area who have parents with multiple sclerosis. A family living with MS can be burdened with extra medical expenses…even when they have insurance. The National MS Society believes that MS should not stand in the way of a college education.
The Society spends $50 million annually to support more than 380 MS investigations, including on average, nearly $10 million at institutions including the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and the University of Virginia Department of Neurology.

Chapter Programs The Chapter offers information and programs to address the wide range of issues facing people with MS and their families. From diagnosis and throughout life with the disease, our educational workshops give individuals the knowledge they need to effectively manage and live well with MS and to support their physical, emotional and social well-being.

1993 by the Southern California Chapter as the National MS Society’s elite annual gift campaign. Since that time, individuals, foundations and corporations have contributed millions of dollars to accelerate the development of more effective MS treatments, to search for the cause and cure of the disease, and to expand local programming for people with MS.
