From our Bike and Walk events we provided $75,000 for research. A three year, $496,000 grant awarded by the National MS Society is currently being used at Virginia Commonwealth University to study myelin repair. A new, comprehensive clinic for MS clients opened in the fall of 2010 at VCU Medical Center. Prior to this the closest clinic was in Charlottesville. We provided $7,500 in college scholarships to students in central Virginia that either have MS or have a parent with MS, so that they can pursue their education. We provided financial assistance to help clients make mortgage/rent payments, pay for utilities, make car payments and pay for respite care, so that they could use their money to pay for their MS medications. We assisted clients in having ramps built at their homes, having driveways paved and modify vehicles so that they can maintain an independent lifestyle.
