General description - The Studio is a 355-sq.m category-one ‘L-type’ (building open to the public) modular auditorium with an integrated stage area. It has 196seat movable tiered seating. The Studio is an integral part of the Centre Pompidou-Metz. Consequently, this space is subject to the same safety rules. Description and coverings - The Studio is surrounded by a one-metre wide catwalk. Height under the catwalk: 3.50m. - The back wall (facing the tiered seating) is matt black plaster, with a rounded shape. It is not possible to hang anything on it. - The side walls are covered with strips of matt black MDF, louvred shutter style. It is not possible to hang anything on them. - The concrete ceiling is covered with black flocking. It is not possible to hang anything on it except from the battens (see ‘stage’ section). - The floor is made of vibrated concrete coated with a light grey resin. It is not possible to install any fastenings. Overview of the Studio

Safety Instructions -
The scenery elements and electrical equipment must comply with the applicable safety regulations, in accordance with the Order dated 5 February 2007. In the framework of the special provisions regarding L-type auditoriums, they may not be brought into the venue without the prior permission of the Live Performance Stage Manager in agreement with the Centre Pompidou-Metz’s Safety Officer.

The stage layout plan, and the fire reaction report regarding the materials and electrical devices must be submitted no later than one month before the event.
-
Any programme including the use of fireworks or flames must be submitted to the Centre Pompidou-Metz’s Safety Officer for verification; this will only be authorised if safety measures are taken and validated in-house regarding the risks.

Smoking is prohibited in the stage area, except when imposed by the play. In which case appropriate precautions must be taken by the operator.

When special technical installations are set up in the Studio to create special effects (laser, fog, smoke, etc.), they must comply with the Technical Instruction (NIT) relative to the utilisation of special installations. NIT No. 251. Definition of the measures relative to smoke generators used to create special effects in Buildings Open to the Public. NIT No. 236. Definition of the conditions for using lasers to create visual effects in Buildings Open to the Public.

The product safety data sheets must be written in French. They must be enclosed with the prevention plan.

Personnel carrying out handling, setting up and dismantling tasks must wear gloves, helmets and safety shoes of a model compliant with the EC standards. The company sheet (appendix 2) or the prevention plan (if required) must absolutely be returned to the Live Performance Stage Manager one month before the event.

There is an obligatory two-metre clearance area between the seating and the stage space (see Plan 1.1). It is not permitted to place anything in the passageways (in green in Plan 1.1)

Studio facilities - The emergency exits must not in any event be blocked. - The electrical installations must be protected against indirect contacts. All cables and connectors must comply with the applicable standards and must not hinder the movements of the audience. - Suspended structures or structures placed at a height must be fitted with appropriate systems to protect against falling: any equipment located above the audience and the stage area must be attached with two distinct systems of two different designs. The records, certificates of conformity, inspection organisation reports, etc. (currently valid and obligatorily in French) must be placed at the disposal of the Live Performance Stage Manager. - In all cases, all the facilities must conform to all the existing regulations, in particular those relative to Buildings Open to the Public. - It is prohibited to raise or lower the moving battens with personnel present above or below them. Batten movement operations may only be carried out by the Centre Pompidou-Metz’s approved personnel. - When the Studio is in its tiered seating configuration, the sound and light desks are located on the catwalk behind the seats. In the configuration without tiered seating: consult us.

Working hours - In order to comply with the work regulations, the technicians’ daily working time may not exceed 10 hours. It is not permitted to exceed 6 consecutive working hours. Meal breaks must last at least one hour. - Standard working hours for one day’s setup work: 9am-8pm with a one-hour break between 1pm and 2pm. - For a show at 8pm followed by dismantling: 1pm-midnight with a one-hour break between 7pm and 8pm.

Electrical power supply - The neutral is of the earthed neutral type. - The distribution of power sockets is ensured via terminal blocks spread around the Studio’s floor and hatches in the walls (see Plans 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 below) - Each terminal block has five single-phase 16 A sockets distributed on two 16 A lines and one three-phase 32 A P17 socket. All the electrical lines are trunked. The total power available on the nine terminal blocks is 63 A.

Stage area in frontal configuration - Flat stage area without slope. - There is a distance of 6 m between the loading/unloading area and the stage. This access is on the level. - The Studio’s storage area is located stage right. It has a surface area of 57 sq.m. Caution! 40 sq.m are occupied by the Studio’s stock of technical equipment (plan) - Scenery access (plan 6.1). - Dimensions of the smallest scenery access doors: Width 1.80 m, height 2.60 m, diagonal 3.10 m (plan 6.2). - Circulation in the wings stage right for the accesses to the front and back of the Studio (plan 7.1). - There are no wings at the back of the stage area, making it possible to move between stage right and left without putting a back curtain in place. - There is no rehearsal space. - A stage curtain on a traveller can be installed. Battens and other rigging - For the suspension of scenery material, the Studio is equipped with: 25 American type motorised battens, dia. 49 mm with a centre-to-centre distance of 350 mm. - Motorisation with electric motors, type LEBLANC SCENIQUE T-72. (3 motors for all the battens). 2 battens are located above the tiered seating, height: 5.50 m. 24 battens are located above the stage area, height 5 m. Maximum load: 350 daN distributed. - 12 fixed battens ∅49 mm. Maximum load: 350 daN distributed. 7 battens are located above the stage area. height 5.40 m. 5 above the tiered seating area. Height 5.70 m. - Other rigging: The catwalk handrail all around the Studio, dia. 49 mm, can be used to support a distributed load of 100 daN/m. Handrail height: 4.50 m.
Movable dancefloor - Removable floor, made by Spectat, SALTI type, with a surface area of 168 sq.m. Maximum opening and depth: 14 m x 12 m for a height of 7 cm. (Photo below) - The floor consists of 84 panels, 1 m x 2 m, made of water-resistant chipboard with visco-elastic elastomer suspension points (tennis balls). A sloping edge makes up for the level difference between the dancefloor and the underlying floor.

Using the dressing rooms The Studio has two 4-person dressing rooms on the 1st floor (photos 1 and 2) and one 2-person dressing room at the level of the stage, accessible for people with reduced mobility (photo 3). Each of the dressing rooms has washbasin(s), shower, toilet, fixed makeup table with mirror and a clothes rail with coathangers (10 coathangers per rail). Delivery Access to the Studio delivery area is via the Centre Pompidou-Metz delivery entrance. 1, avenue François Mitterrand. Submit the safety protocol for the unloading and loading operations 24 hours before unloading (appendix 1). Parking is only authorised for the time required for unloading and loading.
