TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Chilliwack Selected as Location for State of the Art Manufacturing Plant IMW Industries Ltd., established in 1912, is a leading manufacturer of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) equipment for vehicle fueling and industrial applications, such as bus / taxi eets and gas-fired power generation plants. Approximately 99.5% of these compressor and fueling units are exported throughout the world to markets such as South America and Asia. In 2006, interest in our products began to grow substantially. With the development of new markets, rising oil prices, and a growing movement for cleaner fuel alternatives, we realized that demand for this type of product would increase rapidly. As a result, we began searching for suitable options that would accommodate our requirements for a new manufacturing facility. Upon contacting Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation, we became aware of the options available within the City of Chilliwack.
In April 2007, we met with representatives from Colliers International in order to discuss options within Chilliwack and the Lower Mainland. After listening to our needs and conducting a thorough market analysis, Colliers reinforced that our most economical options where located in our backyard, Chilliwack, BC. The research we conducted confirmed our initial belief that Chilliwack was the most competitive environment to proceed with our new facility. Factors such as land costs and availability; taxes; a supportive municipal government and business community, transportation access to rail and highway services; close proximity to the US border, Vancouver and Abbotsford International airports, and several international ocean ports all contributed to our decision. Another element that made Chilliwack attractive was what the community offered our employees. The city, set in one of North America’s most picturesque settings, provides a full host of family services and close access to the outdoors, world-class sporting, arts, and cultural events. In February of 2008, we were extremely pleased to open our new 55,000 square foot manufacturing plant. Our new facility, which employs approximately 150 people, came at an opportune time as our annual production has jumped from 40 to 400 units. With over 1,000 compressor installations worldwide and clear indications of strong growth, we are well positioned for the future.
