When you wish to work on your language skills with others of your own or similar age, on a programme not solely geared to an academic syllabus, talk to CESA. The Over 50s programmes are tailored to meet day to day language needs. The programmes are ideal if you are plan to live part of the year in a different country or have a favourite holiday destination, or visit friends or family abroad. Nice French for the Over 50s: 2013 Course Dates: 11 February, 13 May, 02 September & 21 October 2013 Tuition: € 846.00 + CESA Fee: € 50.00 Host accommodation, single room half-board: € 482.00 for 2 weeks stay Hotels/residences: Quoted on request French classes cover the topics of the cultural activities in the afternoon. Linguistic development is encouraged with the help of plays, debates and document based work. The course provides a highly practical approach to the language and is fabulous for developing self-confidence in communication and comprehension. A full social and activity programme is offered as an inclusive part of this course. The language course and all bar one of the activities are centred purely on the Over 50s students, there is only one trip where the group is integrated in with other language students. Two weeks language course: Open to 50+ age group Max. 10 people per group class 15 French group lessons Levels: Low intermediate level+ students (A2 level required) Timetable: 09.30 to 12.15hrs (with a 30 minutes break) An activity programme is offered over 7 afternoons, 2 evenings and includes one full day excursion Accommodation: With local French hosts , single rm, ½ brd or can be arrange in local Hotels or residences on request Activities can include: Guided visit into Nice’s old towm, excursion to Beaulieu & Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and the Rothschild villa, wine tasting and exploring provencale cuisine, visit to the Renoir museum, Sunday afternoon at the Opera, a Salsa evening, dinner in a restaurant with college staff, an excursion to Villefrance sur Mer, Entrevaus (a medieval village) or Cagnes sur Mer. – NB: Excursions take place by bus or train and the group is accompanied by a teacher or social director (this isn't valid for the 1st Sunday and the 2nd Friday). For the visits of towns and villages they only chose short walking distances with several breaks. Except for the excursion to Entrevaux, tuition and activities are reserved to seniors only and no other student will be mixed to the group. Accommodation is carefully chosen near the school (less than 1 kilometre by walking). All activities are guided and commented in French language. The activity programme during the February session is partly focused on Carnival events. Background Information: Established in 1992, the college is situated a few blocks south of Nice Main Railway station, some 200 metres from the Nice Etoile shopping area, 400 meters from Place Massena and 10 minutes from the Promenade des Anglais by foot. Located in a quiet residential area the college is situated in a lovely mansion, surrounded by similar styled houses from the turn of the 20th century. The year round college consists of 16 classrooms, air conditioning, a library, computer room with internet access and a student common room with a small library. There is also a small courtyard, shaded by trees where students can relax during breaks. At it's busiest during the warmer months of the year, students are advised to book early for the June to September programmes. The course provides a highly practical approach to the language and is fabulous for developing self-confidence in communication and comprehension. It is aimed at helping students improve their French whilst discovering the art, culture, gastronomy and countryside of the Riviera. Two weeks language course : Open to 50+ age group Max.1 2 people per group class 20 French group lessons Levels: Good elementary level+ students (A2 level required) Timetable: 09.00 to 12.20hrs An activity programme is offered over 4 half days per week,1 evening and includes one full day excursion. Where there are not sufficient older students to form a separate class of the right language level, students are mixed with other language students for their French lessons. Activities can include: Visit to Antibes town, Saint Paul de Vence, Cannes, or The Maeght Foundation. Excursion nd wine tasting in ‘Chateau du Bellet’, visit to the Picasso Museum or Vallauris (famous for its pottery). Game of Petangue (boules), cooking lesson of Provencal dishes, visit to Grasse Perfumery in Fragonard , or a trip to Gourdon or Gorges du Loup. Trip to Monaco and the Museum of Oceanography and Aquarium in Monaco. Full day excursion to valberg (January session) or Nice (May and November sessions). Cultural evening: to go and see a show depending on theatre programmes or Aperitif accompanied by traditional Provencal specialities. Background information: The school was established in 1985, and just a few minutes walk from Antibes. The school is in a beautiful house surrounded by flowering gardens and set in a calm environment, with a pleasant view of the Mediterranean Sea. All the classrooms are bright with ample lighting, and equipped with TV and Video. There are also a number of outdoor classrooms that are a positive delight during fine weather. Tape recorders, video cameras and overhead projectors are also regularly used as teaching aides. There is a library that is open to students Monday to Friday. Students can eat their meals in the self-catering restaurant, which has a panoramic view of the sea. A second college site is used during the busiest months of the year, near the Antibes port. This site has fewer facilities but this is more than compensated for by the beautiful setting, surrounded by Provencal cafes and shops, in this historic town. NB: Students cannot choose which site they are placed in, however for most of the year, the majority of classes take place at the main college site. Background Information: Established in 1992, the year round French language school in Rouen is a private, centrally located town building, with its own car park and courtyard. Housed in a modern building on the left bank of the River Seine at Rouen, the school is bright and airy. There is a metro stop just by the school, so it is easy to reach, from all areas of the city. The college is just 5 minutes walk from bustling commercial area known as St Sever (the pedestrian zone includes a shopping mall with over 200 shops). With 12 classrooms, the language school can accommodate both the group courses and the smaller intensive group and one-to-one classes, as well. There is a resource centre with 10 computers for student use, with free internet access. WiFi access is also available for those wishing to use their personal laptops. If you are looking to work on your French for a few weeks in a classroom that guarantees small group tuition, with other adult students from around the world, you will love Tours! A short French language course aimed at adults, and very suitable for students in the 50 years plus age range who wish to study with their peers (and other adults mainly in their 30’s/40’s) in a beautiful and elegant college in central Paris. The course concentrates on exploring general French language skills and offers a systematic study of French grammar, according to the student’s level with an emphasis on improving communication skills. Background Information: This lovely French language school in central Paris, is small, friendly and offers high quality small group and private French language tuition, was established in 1984 and is located near the Louvre, in the 1st district of Paris. The French language school provides the perfect environment for those who require serious study for private tuition or in a small group setting. Situated on 2 floors, the college comprises of 9 classrooms for group and private lessons (staircase access only, no lift). Students can relax in the common room between classes or pop into one of the very many typical French cafés surrounding the school. They have free access to email. There is also a library of French DVDs and CD-Rom's to help in self-study and a video room for student use. Aimed at those older students who wish to study with their peers whilst concentrating on developing their communication skills and enjoying a varied social activity programme. Courses are aimed at three abilities; beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Beginners concentrate on highly practical situations whilst more advanced students will discuss aspects of Spanish life, society, culture and politics.
