Moscow, is a power house of a city and just a slice of Moscow’s history is recorded in Tolstoy’s “War & Peace”. The 21st century city is expanding at a tremendous rate and there are signs of extreme wealth, however outside the city centre there is still plenty of poverty. The petrodollar has transformed the city over the last two decades, yet buildings such as the Bolshoi Theatre still reflect a neo-classical past and the metro stations are shrines to the Soviet past. The college is located centrally, just 5 mins from the nearest metro station, and 10 minutes walk from Leningradsky Prospekt. The building is also used by foreign diplomats and international journalists. Facilities include 6 classrooms, free wi-fi access, TV & DVD sets. This college has been open for over 9 years and draws on over 21 years of teaching experience, catering for 20/ 60 students studying each month. It offers a fabulous language learning environment for ALL linguistic needs, including older students and business people. Russian language courses on offer include general language courses (across 6 to 8 language levels), combined & private tuition programmes. The college suits Gap Year and graduate students requiring longer term courses and adults looking to improve their Russian for career, academic or personal reasons.
Standard Course 20 lessons per week Class size: max 8 people. Ideal for all age groups (17yrs+) and language abilities. Short term programmes are perfect for those already studying Russian, or who wish to get a feel for studying a language abroad, without making a long term commitment. Intensive Course As Standard Course Plus workshops on Business Russian, Russia for Business, Mass Media Today, Russian Culture, History & Literature Combined Course As Standard Course plus 5 or 10 private lessons per week
Languages for Life As Standard programme, indepth study over an extended period for students who wish to reach a good to excellent knowledge and gain a solid command of Russian for academic or professional reasons. Very popular with GAP students prior to University, graduates and adults looking to take a career break. Academic Year Course * An in-depth 24 or 36 week course to ensure maximum fluency and cultural assimilation. Private Tuition Any Monday by request All levels offered

Julia: Gap Year student “I wanted a Gap Year with a difference. I didn’t want to do the expat, back-packer thing in Thailand with all the other westerners. CESA explained that in Russia I had to have an open mind and accept that everything would be different to what I took as the norm. It was and I loved it! The people, the city, the excess, the poverty – amazing to experience first-hand.” Mr Wilkins: Combined Course “Staying with a host family meant few material luxuries, which I found quite a shock, but the rewards were many. Typical food, a warm welcome and some good conversation made up for the lack of Hotel comforts and enabled me to put my new found Russian skills into practise. If you really want to learn the language and see life as Russians live it – I recommend you do the same.”

Mr Markham: Private tuition “My language skills improved across the board, even my confusion over complicated verbs of motion disappeared over a fortnight!” Kathryn: Gap Year student “I decided to learn Russian for pleasure! I thought it was a beautiful language and like nothing I’d ever studied before and I really wanted to get a good grasp of it; and where better to do that than in Russia? I found the college staff really friendly and learning was the best bit! The college was central, so after school you could go pretty much anywhere - a museum or a bar, depending on how the lessons had gone! The family I lived with was friendly and very patient with me, which was great because my Russian at the beginning was non-existent. When I arrived I could not form a sentence, when I left, I was comfortable with the language and could hold conversations without stressing! It was really total immersion in the language and culture and I would love to go back. A Year Out course enabled me to combine going to a different country and experiencing a different way of life with actually learning the language and living there. I was not a tourist who ‘does’ St Petersburg in a day, but a student. You feel as though it’s your town towards the end and because you’re learning the language, you feel so much more comfortable and welcomed, rather than just imposing on everyone.”
