Youth News 39 East Jackson Street Martinsville, Indiana 46151 T: (765) 342-5102 Hosted by the First Christian Church Serving Martinsville Youth Since 1998 Mission Statement: The Purpose of The Haven is to provide youth a Safe Place to hang out with friends, visit, play games, eat, study, learn new skills, and do community service projects.
ART FOR ALL AGES
As pictured, the youth filled 1,500 Easter eggs for the after dark city park hunt held on March 18 for 6th-12th graders. School closings sometimes offer field trip opportunities. This was the case on Presidents’ Day when The Haven youth went to the Franklin Skate Club for a couple of hours on roller skates. It was a totally new adventure for some and repeat fun for others. A great time was had by all, including the stop at Wendy’s on the return trip.
Suzanne Lawler’s studio, Everything’s A Canvas, is the location of the art grant sessions in April. Haven youth will explore color with music as it relates to happiness. They will create posters which will be taken during the fourth and final session to The Waters where the youth will share what they have created and learned with residents as they paint together. This intergenerational experience promises to be lively and fun. Many thanks go to the Community Foundation for funding this effort.
