FROM OUR BOARD

Welcome to the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi’s Crystal Ball Gala, A Night in Havana! We are excited to be back in person after a two year absence due to COVID. Despite the cancellations for 2021 and 2022, 95% of Crystal Ball sponsors renewed their donation allowing the Foundation to continue its mission of connecting people who care with causes that matter.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, in-kind donors, and volunteers whose loyalty to the Foundation has been unwavering through some very challenging years. Your loyalty and financial support have enabled the Foundation to average over $9 million in donations over the past three years! Most importantly, your support has resulted in an average of $4 million in grants bringing our all-time total in grants to $35 million since 2002.

We invite you to read the 2022 Philanthropy Report that celebrates the Foundation’s 20 years of service to nonprofits. The Community Foundation was established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation. Our Board of Directors thanks Robin Hurdle for her vision of a community foundation and for the Maddox Foundation directing millions of dollars through the Community Foundation to support youth, health, and education. The Board also thanks Tom Pittman for his twenty years as President of the Community Foundation. Robin’s vision and Tom’s leadership are the two ingredients that have resulted in the assets of the Foundation reaching $38 million as of December 31, 2021, toward the goal of $50 million. Please enjoy your evening at the Crystal Ball!

LETTER FROM OUR CHAIRS

Welcome to the 2023 annual Crystal Ball! We are glad you are here and thanks for your continued support of the Community Foundation. The Foundation raises endowed funds throughout the year for causes you support, but they also support other nonprofits and charitable causes through their own work with youth, health, and education. Your tickets, donations, and purchases tonight will go a long way toward helping the Foundation continue to connect people who care with causes that matter in Northwest Mississippi.

The Crystal Ball would not be possible without the hard work and devotion of dozens of volunteers from our community Over the preceding several months, they have dedicated untold hours from their busy lives to organize, create, fabricate, or construct nearly everything you see here tonight. If you meet any volunteers, please thank them for a job well done Sincerely, Scott & Natasha Hollis Co-Chairmen of the 2023 Crystal Ball
