PERMANENT FUND FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA An Endowment to Shape the Region’s Future

After a successful campaign raising more than $10 million in current and planned gifts for the Permanent Fund last year, the Community Foundation’s board of directors has committed to seeking another $10 million to ensure the Community Foundation’s ability to respond to need and seed innovation in the future. It will be a forever source of funding for future generations of Northern Virginians.

COUNT THE REGION A “get out the count” initiative for the 2020 Decennial Census at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

This year, we launched “Count the Region” to help get out the count for the 2020 Census in Northern Virginia, making sure everyone living in Northern Virginia is counted, counted once, and counted in the right place.

The importance of the 2020 Census cannot be overstated. For every Virginia who is not counted, the region loses $1,200 per year for 10 years, or $12,000 total, in federal assistance program allocations.

The Business Case for Economic Mobility March 7, 2019

In March of 2019, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia hosted the 2nd Annual Shape of the Region Conference in partnership with Northern Virginia Regional Commission, Northern Virginia Technology Council, and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

The event served as a platform to discuss economic mobility, income inequality, and increased opportunity for our region.
