2014-15 SEASON REVIEW Coast Guard will once again be led by three-time national qualifier and two-time All America Nate Giorgio at 133 pounds. Giorgio, who missed most of last season last year, went 12-8, but was healthy toward the end of the season and placed third at the Northeast Regional and was eighth at the Division III National championship to earn All-America honors for the second time in his career. He placed fourth at 125 pounds as a freshman and has a goal of a national championship to close out his collegiate career. Sophomore Mike Palomba, who placed sixth at the Northeast Regional last season at 157 pounds, along with senior Mike Giorgio at 141 pounds and junior Mike Shermot (174) will lead the Bears at the middle weight classes. Junior Marc Wagner (184), sophomore Phil Azzari (197) and junior Mark Howard (HWT) will be the leaders for the Bears in the heavier weight classes.

Four freshmen Dominick Summers (125), Benjamin Crutchfield (141), Thomas Dalton (157) and Christopher Sullivan (157) will all fight for spots this season. “These four freshmen are in great positions to earn a spot in the starting lineup right away and if not becoming the starter, they will push the starter,” said Bratland. “They are all talented hard workers and we are fortunate to have them here.” Coast Guard was 7-10 in dual meets last season the Bears most wins in ten years since the team went 9-9 in the 2003-’04 season. “We are very solid up and down the lineup. There are no gaping holes,” said Bratland. “The big thing for these guys is to come together as a team and realize how good that they are and can be. I put a lot of stock in the effort of our guys more so than wins and losses. I want to know that they went out and wrestled to their potential, left everything they had on the mat and they are buying into our program and living a championship lifestyle. That will dictate their success.”

SEASON REVIEW

“Wagner, Azzari and Howard are all very fast for their weight and they can all compete to earn a spot at the national tournament this season,” said first-year head coach Kevin Bratland.

The Bears also welcome back sophomore Kyle Levy, junior Kevin Painten and senior Joel Wyman from the football team who will add depth to the heavyweight class this season.

Other top returners for the Bears include sophomore Earl Roberts (125), sophomore Matt McAllister (141), sophomore Matt Vieira (149) and senior Steve Kidwell (157).
