Hiking circuits in Tierra del Fuego present a span of possibilities for privileged adventures in the end of the world. The Andes range presents two well defined areas: To the north of the mountains, the steppe presents a continental landscape, while to the south hillsides fall into the sea in a typical Fuegian frame. Lenga forests with their ocher tones, peat bogs, enormous lakes and transversal valleys on the edge of the continent are some of the good reasons to dare running the adventure. Many of these mountains have not yet been travelled by man. Tierra del Fuego National Park, are one of the principal attractions in the area. The importance of Tierra del Fuego National Park lies in keeping the pristine condition of nature, only altered by beavers, which, introduced from Canada five decades ago.

DIENTES DE NAVARINO CIRCUIT The end of the world trekking, From here only Cape Horn…

26
Dientes de Navarino Itinerary & Description Day 1: Ushuaia to Puerto Williams. This day we cross the Beagle channel, from Ushuaia. Day 2: Puerto Williams to the Dientes de Navarino peaks. After four to five hours we reach Laguna del Salto to pitch camp near the lake. Day 3: Dientes de Navarino peaks to Laguna Martillo. Our goal for today is Lago Martillo, which we will reach after five or six hours. Day 4: Laguna Martillo to Paso Virginia. At Paso Virginia we reach the highest point of the Dientes Circuit at 2,870 feet (859m). The wind has created a moon scenery. We can see Cordillera Darwin and Ushuaia. We spend the night in the forest, out of the wind (5 hours). Day 5: Paso Virginia to Puerto Williams. Hike to the Beagle Channel and Puerto Williams (5 to 6 hours). Day 6: Puerto Williams to Ushuaia.
This trek is an absolutely wonderful place - the views over the Cape Horn archipelago are stunning and the landscape changes rapidly so it feels as if you've covered even more ground than you really do. Dientes de Navarino is a wonderful, but very demanding 5-6 days trek, only for seasoned trekkers. The challenge: the extremely variable weather (sub Antarctic), you have a sunny day, no wind and in less 10 minutes you can endure a blizzard, or thick fog and so.

Weather The Climate of Tierra del Fuego belongs to Sub polar Oceanic. Although temperatures are cold during all the year, it is possible to appreciate Magellan forest. Ushuaia has a average temperature of 5,7 °C and a low annual temperature variation, from -0,3 in July to 9,4 °C in January; it is not common temperatures over 15 °C in Summer or less than -8 °C in Winter. Record of absolute temperatures are 29,4 °C (December) and -25,1 °C (July). Cold is so constant, that in Summer it snows eventually, or temperatures like -6 °C. Precipitations, that in Winter usually falls as snow, are constant during the year (524 mm). Even if it doesn’t seem too much, because of the low temperature, they help to consider Ushuaia as a city with wet weather; it also helps that it rains 200 days a year. Strong winds from the western quadrant, originated in the Pacific, feels hard in the city. They give their shape to unprotected trees that grows with their crowns following wind direction. These are called “flag trees”.
