Some of my feelings… Some of my thoughts… Diary of my learning process

Carolina Gálvez Santos UAB – 2014-2015

Wednesday, 29th October 2014 Today we have talked about Learning Styles (LS) Teachers must take into consideration all types of LS in order for the students to have the same opportunities of learning. We can create a project with a wide range of activities, e.g. watching a video to integrate auditory and visual LS, acting to represent a period of history (Kinesthetic LS), filming the act and tactile activities where learners need to touch the screen and press the buttons of their computer (tactile LS). Kinesthetic is the most difficult LS.

Wednesday, 5th November 2014 Where are our pupils going? Teachers are supposed to share their objectives with their learners. But when and how? Pupils need to be aware of the macrostructure of the project they are working on, i.e. the main objectives to be achieved, at the very beginning of the project. Objectives should be expressed by using an easy vocabulary in order to offer equal opportunities to all students (go to http://vocaroo.com/i/s09HJAS3c6Xt).

Vocaroo Transcription: Consider here they can be written on a piece of paper and, at the same time, explained on a video. Auditory and visual learners will be grateful for your gesture. We can also show them a sample of the final product of the project. Depending on the kind of the final product, a performance for example, we could even ask kinesthetic pupils to give us a little demonstration in order for them to better understand what they will be supposed to do.

We have to think about measurable objectives –no isolated objectives / different levels.

But objectives are usually knowledge. This knowledge can be difficult to explain, to be enunciated. Indeed, it can be harder to explain what a PBLL is than to show it.
