Remedial Wall Ties - 9mm CD Tie

DESCRIPTION

Remedial wall ties are designed by Thor Helical to have longitudinal blades with sufficient reactive interface angle to cut an accurate self tapping penetrative path into a wide variety of masonry elements upon being driven by a series of axial impacts.

The CD wall tie has a circumscribed diameter of 9mm and is typically driven into a tiny pilot hole to minimize disturbance to the masonry as installation proceeds at remarkable speed and great simplicity.

n Reliable in all types of masonry

n Robust & corrosion free

n Engineered product upgrade

n Patented helix consistency

BENEFITS

The mechanical interlock anchorage of the Twistfix helical wall tie exerts no expansive stress, does not rely on adhesion and is not affected by temperature extremes or fire.

The cross sectional profile of the spiral wall tie includes a wide portion, to maximise grip, and narrow portion, to accommodate differential movements in all directions. The deep and continuous helical troughs prevent migration of water across the cavity.

When under load, the continuous helical blades interact with the host building material to impart an accumulative cone of forces at tangential angles to the helix. Loads are spread evenly along the full penetrative length of the tie to ensure reliability of connection in a wide variety of construction materials.

n Rapid cost effective installation

n Precise helical interlock anchorage

n Combines axial strength with flexibility

n Stable, reliable & unobtrusive

Frame Cramps

Frame Cramps are an ideal solution where a restraint is required between masonry and in-situ structures. They can be fixed to concrete, steelwork or masonry. They are available with an integral drip for use across a cavity and either have a single 7mm diameter hole (SDB) or an 8mm x 30mm vertical slot (SDV). The Ancon SPB has a plain shank.

Ancon M6 single expansion bolts are recommended for fixing to concrete and M6 set screws or SDTSS-38-5PT self-drilling screws for fixing to steelwork. Frame cramps can be fixed to masonry with suitable plugs and screws or resin anchors.

Ancon HiT (Hammer-in Tie)

AMR Masonry Reinforcement

The Ancon HiT fixes masonry to concrete, dense blocks (≥7N/mm²), non-perforated brick or hard stone. Use of the HiT can reduce the variety of tie lengths required on site and speed the rate of construction.

Once the plug is installed in the concrete, the Ancon HiT is inserted into a special installation tool, leaving its threaded end exposed. The tool is hammered until it is flush with the concrete, locating the thread in the plug.

A neoprene ‘O’ ring must be installed on the tie to prevent moisture crossing the cavity. Using the same tool and ensuring adequate embedment is achieved in the outer leaf, the tie is bent parallel (85-90°) to the brickwork.

The Ancon HiT meets the requirements of PD 6697 as a Type 2 tie.

Lengths: 310mm for any cavity width up to 150mm.

Ancon AMR ‘Ladder Type’ masonry reinforcement is a fabricated steel component that is located in the bed joint to strengthen masonry panels without thickening the wall. The longitudinal steel wires are flattened to ensure good mortar cover even when lapped or used with wall ties. Cross wires are welded in the same plane as the main wires at 450mm centres. AMR is available in various wire diameters and widths to suit a range of applications. Manufactured in lengths of 2700mm.

Benefits

• Available in five wire diameters

• Stainless steel option suitable for all applications

• No on-site bar straightening required

• Virtually no restriction on continuation bar length

• Approved by CARES (TA 5061)

DSD Shear Load Connectors

Ancon’s range of shear load connectors offers significant advantages over plain dowel bars. They are more effective at transferring load and accommodating movement and, due to their two-part construction, are simpler to install. The sleeve component is nailed to the formwork and cast with the first pour; drilling of either formwork or concrete is not required. Once the formwork is removed, the dowel component is pushed into the sleeve and cast with the second pour.

• The Ancon DSD is the original two-part, double dowel, shear load connector. The dowel component can move longitudinally within the sleeve to accommodate movement

- Available in ten standard sizes and can transfer design loads from around 20kN to over 950kN

- Larger connectors can be used in joints up to 60mm wide

• The Ancon DSDQ shear load connector uses the same dowel component as the Ancon DSD, but the cylindrical sleeve is contained within a rectangular box section to allow lateral movement in addition to the longitudinal movement

- Nine standard sizes can be used to transfer design loads from around 30kN to over 950kN.

• The Ancon ESD is a single dowel shear connector available in four sizes, with each size available in two lengths. Ancon ESD shear connectors are used where the slab or wall is too thin for Ancon DSD, and where loads are small.

Shearfix Punching Shear Reinforcement

Ancon Shearfix is used within a slab to provide additional reinforcement around column heads. It is the ideal solution to the construction problems associated with punching shear, including enlarged column heads. The system consists of double-headed studs welded to flat rails, positioned around the column head or base. The shear load from the slab is transferred through the studs into the column. The studs are welded to the rail at centres determined by Ancon’s software.

Benefits

• Suitable for all column shapes and locations

• Easy to install either ‘top down’ or ‘bottom up’

• Holds UK CARES Technical Approval

Reinforcement Connections

Ancon Starter Bar Coupler

The Ancon Starter Bar system is designed to increase the speed of construction at joints where continuity of reinforcement is required, or for fixing applications using standard metric bolts or studding. Use of this Ancon system can simplify concrete design and eliminate the need to drill formwork or concrete.

Eazistrip Reinforcement Continuity Systems

Eazistrip is designed to maintain continuity of reinforcement at construction joints in concrete. It consists of pre-bent bars housed within a galvanised steel casing. Once installed in the first concrete pour, the protective cover is removed and the bars are straightened ready for lapping with rebar in the second pour.

Benefits

• Allows for simplification of formwork design

• Contributes to the acceleration of the construction process

• Risk of injury from projecting bars is minimised

Reinforcement Connections

Balcony Connectors

Ancon Thermally Insulated Balcony Connectors minimise heat loss at balcony locations while maintaining structural integrity. They provide a thermal break by inserting a material with a low thermal conductivity between elements with a higher conductivity and most also provide local insulation at the joint. As a critical structural component, they transfer moment, shear, tension and compression forces. Standard solutions are available for concrete-to-concrete (Isotec) and steel-to-concrete (STC) solutions.

Ancon Isotec is a high performance thermal break system comprising 100% stainless steel reinforcement and fire-resistant mineral wool insulation. Compression studs rather than bars facilitate installation even in congested concrete floor slabs.

Benefits

• Suitable for highly energy-efficient structures

• Inherent fire and corrosion-resistant properties

• Supplied as a unit providing rigidity and dimensional stability

• Range includes standard solutions for stepped balconies

MBT Reinforcing Bar Couplers

Ancon STC is used for anchoring steel balconies to concrete floor slabs and has been proven through thermal modelling to reduce heat loss when compared to direct connections. The two part assembly, comprising a cast-in anchorage and a post-fixed bracket with thermal pad located at the interface, allows for phased construction. This reduces the risk of the units being damaged during the construction process. Serrated pads and slots provide adjustability in the final bracket position without the need for stop butts or levelling shims.

Benefits

• Proven through thermal modelling to reduce heat loss

• Two-part phased assembly avoids damage by other trades

• Variable bracket projection avoids conflict with cladding

• Adjustability offered without levelling shims

MBT is a range of mechanically bolted couplers for the joining of reinforcing steel. Bars are locked in place within the coupler by a series of lockshear bolts, the heads of which shear off at a predetermined tightening torque to provide a full strength splice and a visual check of correct installation. They require neither bar end preparation nor bar rotation and are suitable for imperial, plain round or deformed reinforcing bars. They are ideal for remedial applications involving the cutting out and replacing of damaged or corroded rebar sections.

Benefits

• Available to suit bar diameters from 10mm to 40mm

• Approved by HAPAS for highway work

• ET series MBT couplers join bars of the same diameter

• MBT Transition Couplers for joining bars of different diameters

• MBT Continuity Couplers for use at construction joints

• MBT Headed Anchors provide dead end embedment

Mapeproof HW Waterproof Membrane

Walldrain

Its dimpled sheet provides outstanding drainage and physical protection over under-ground foundation walls. The nonwoven geotextile mat over the dimples creates a continuous air gap for reliable ventilation and drainage of water inflow from the surrounding soil. This composite system excels in a wide variety of other application sectors as well, including basements, underground parking garages, roof terraces, parking garage roofs, etc., providing users a variety of benefits.

n Permanent air gap, suspended particles in water are filtered out by the geotextile mat

n Excellent drainage performance

n Outstanding compressive strength

Walldrain products are resistant to a wide range of chemicals, impervious to root penetration, rot-proof and unaffected by soil bacteria and fungi.

Mapeproof HW’s nonwoven fabric is needlepunched through to the woven fabric, with thousands of fibers mechanically locking the sodium bentonite clay in place. After backfill is placed and confined under pressure, Mapeproof HW hydrates and forms a monolithic waterproofing membrane when exposed to moisture. Mapeproof HW contains zero VOCs and can be installed in most weather conditions as well as to green concrete.

The swelling characteristics of the sodium bentonite clay in Mapeproof HW can seal small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, concrete shrinkage or seismic action. Mapeproof HW also forms a strong mechanical bond to concrete when the concrete is poured onto the nonwoven geotextile fibers.

n Can be installed over damp or green concrete substrates

n Self-healing if punctured

n Mapeproof HW is not affected if the level of the water table rises and falls.

n The needle-punch pattern in the geotextile fabrics guarantees that the sodium bentonite is held firm and stable, even when Mapeproof HW is applied vertically.

PVC Waterstop

PVC waterstops are extrusions made from high grade PVC resin that are plasticized and stabilized to offer long life performance in concrete structures against water leakages. PVC waterstops are hydrophobic in nature and resist water, all types of hazardous liquids and water borne chemicals. The waterstop profiles are designed so that when embedded into the concrete joint, they form a continuous water tight diaphragm to prevent transmission of water through the joint. PVC waterstops have high flexibility and tensile strength to withstand any shear forces laterally or transversely in the joints. PVC waterstops are manufactured in different thickness, widths and profile types to suit various joints like contraction, expansion and construction joints. The selection of PVC waterstops is made based on the type and the expected movement of the joint together with the hydrostatic head pressure, the concrete structure is going to be subjected to.
