Holloway Pledges to Serve a Full Term if Elected Ellicott District Council Member; Calls on His Opponents in the Race to Join
Cedric Holloway, who is currently campaigning for the Ellicott District council seat, recently pledged to serve a full term if elected, and he called on his opponents to join him in committing not to seek other offices if they are successful in the race.

“I am campaigning to represent the residents of the Ellicott District and have no plans to run for another position” said Holloway, candidate for Ellicott District Council. “The hardworking men and women in our community need a representative on the Common Council who is focused exclusively on their needs, not plotting their next career step. If I have the honor of being elected, I pledge to serve a full term in office. The residents of Ellicott deserve nothing less.”
Holloway, who was born and raised in Ellicott, and who spent much of his 30 year career as a Buffalo police officer working the neighborhoods of the district, called on the other candidates for the seat to make the same pledge.
“This should not be a heavy lift,” noted Holloway. “We are asking our community to put their trust in us with their vote, and the least that we can do is to commit to serving a full term in the job we are seeking. Cynicism is dangerous to democracy, citizens become disengaged when they feel that politics is just another game played by the elite. I want to assure the residents of Ellicott that if I am elected, I will dedicate my full attention to the issues facing our community: improving basic services like public safety, trash pick up, beautifying our neighborhoods, potholes, and snow removal. We are also going to see unprecedented levels of public investment in the next several years, including $331 million in American Rescue Plan funds, $50 million for homeowners and small business owners pledged by Governor Hochul. The public needs to know that their council members are going to be watching how that money is spent, and pushing to ensure that those funds directly improve the lives of the residents of East Buffalo.”
Cedric M. Holloway was born and raised on Johnson Street in the Ellicott District. He is the proud son of well-known community warriors the late Johnnie B. Wiley and Lovenia Holloway. Cedric remains a life-long resident of Ellicott and will be on the ballot for the June 27, 2023 primary.
