Peru
Programme Overview Become a Global Citizen in Peru as you immerse yourself in the local culture of the Sacred Valley. You will spend two weeks working to address important issues affection the communities we work in. You will be participating on our media programme which is specifically aimed to help the children in our partner schools improve their English communication language skills. English is a game changer for those that are able to speak it as they can access better jobs in the tourism sector in our target areas of the Urubamba district. The focus of your challenge is to immerse yourself into our education, well-being and infrastructure development programmes whilst sharing your creativity and building your personal portfolio.
Peru Key Focus Peru is a country of rich heritage, natural and man-made wonders, home to the incredible Amazon Rainforest and Machu Picchu. One of the fastest growing countries in South America, much progress has been made in regards to reducing poverty, yet issues of social discrimination and inequality are still strong and are issues that The FutureSense Foundation is working to address. Our work is focused in Urubamba, a small town located in the Sacred Valley and home to over 6 different ethnic groups. With a population of 16,000 people, the town is estimated to have 12% of the population lacking literacy skills. Our programmes focus on education, health care and inequalities.
