QUIET, POWERFUL AND EMISSION FREE...MEET THE EZ17e With the fully electric mini-excavator EZ17e, the Emission-Free Construction Site is becoming a reality
Wacker Neuson is expanding its zero emission range to include the electric mini-excavator EZ17e. With solutions by Wacker Neuson, an entire inner-city construction site can be operated fully emission-free and almost free of noise. Due to its specially developed battery technology, flexible charge management and efficiency output, the compact excavator can be applied in as many ways as a conventional model of the same class, entirely without compromise. As Wacker Neuson has already shown many times, the company is thinking in terms of holistic solutions with its zero emission series. “In 2015, we put the first battery-powered rammer on the market and from the start, designed a sustainable system for our customers’ purposes. Today, the modular battery can be used in seven units,” says Alexander Greschner, Sales Director of the Wacker Neuson Group. “With the mini-excavator EZ17e, we have expanded our zero emission series.

Group, says, “With the EZ17e, we have implemented a zero-tail concept with generous performance dimensions. With the efficient, intuitive and emission-free excavator, we satisfy the high standards of professionals who work in particularly confined space conditions, as is usual in interior demolition, for example.” Due to the battery system with integrated battery heating, the excavator can be operated even at low outside temperatures. It just has to be connected – the integrated battery management system does the rest. Besides the easy handling, customers benefit from minimized maintenance and service costs as well as lower energy costs in operation. At the beginning of 2020, the excavator was given the SaMoTer Innovation Award for its efficiency, an optimum integration of the electric drive in the zero-tail concept, and its performance.
Flexible in application – easy to operate
With more than twelve machines, an entire inner-city construction site can be operated completely free of exhaust emissions – without limitations in the sequence of operations or in performance, not least because of the consistently retained zero-tail design.” That the trend is heading in this direction is also shown in the increasingly stricter specifications for environment and user protection on the national and international levels. Further, various cities are thinking about requirements for pollution reduction, particularly in the inner cities, and are beginning to support the application of low-emission machines.
Intelligent battery management
The first question when it comes to battery-powered equipment – how long will the battery last? Wacker Neuson’s answer: a whole workday, with no intermittent charging. The mini-excavator EZ17e, with its integrated lithium-ion battery, can be used either without
a power cable or, during stationary activities, charged at power sources from 100 to 415 volts in ongoing operation. At all times, the operator can see the current charge level of the battery but also track whether the power supply network on the construction site is overloaded and take the excavator off the network if necessary. A full charge can be achieved at a household outlet (110-230 volts) or by quick charging with high-voltage current (415 volts) in only four hours. Highquality lithium ion battery technology has been in use by Wacker Neuson for several years already and is especially durable. It ensures that all hydraulic functions have the performance of a conventional model of the same class. This way, customers can be sure of working just as flexibly and efficiently with the electric excavator as with a diesel-powered machine – in short: no exhaust emissions, no compromises. Stefan Bogner, managing director of the research and development centre of expertise within the Wacker Neuson
The mini-excavator is a zero-tail model, i.e. without rear overhang. This makes it particularly maneuverable and compact, and thus ideal for application on cramped construction sites or indoors. An intuitive operating concept makes it easy for the operator to keep all functions within view. The excavator can be easily steered using a Jog Dial system. All important information, for example the charge level of the battery, is clearly shown on the seven-inch, full colour display. There is also the new option of operating the quick hitch system via the display, rather than via the dozer blade lever.
Completely emission-free construction sites are becoming a reality
The zero-emission series by Wacker Neuson currently includes three batterypowered rammers and three batterypowered vibratory plates; a dual power mini-excavator that can be operated with an electro-hydraulic drive unit in addition to the diesel engine; an electric mini-excavator; an electric wheel loader; electric track; and wheel dumpers and an internal vibrator system for concrete consolidation. With this wide-ranging portfolio, a typical inner-city construction site can be operated emission-free and at low noise levels. The zero emission solutions are usually applied in environments in which exhaust fumes and noise should be avoided, for example for demolition and reconstruction work indoors or on night job sites in the inner city.

NEW BOBCAT TRACK LOADER FOR FLY-TIPPING AND ASBESTOS WORK In the UK, fly-tipping is an increasing problem. Government reports show that in England alone, local authorities dealt with over one million fly-tipping incidents from 2018 to 2019, an increase of eight per cent over the same period in 2017/2018 and the highest in a decade. Another problem faced by local authorities in the UK is the removal of asbestos – a recent report estimates there are still six million tonne of asbestos inside 1.5 million buildings in the UK. The removal of these materials
requires the expertise of specialist companies such as D J Cleaning Ltd, based in North Newbald in East Yorkshire, which holds a full three-year licence from the UK Health & Safety Executive to remove all types of asbestos such as asbestos insulation board (AIB), artex and cement products. Formed in 1967, D J Cleaning also offers a wide range of site, property and garden clearance services, including the removal of rubbish and often hazardous materials, resulting from fly-tipping.
New compact solution
To meet the increasing need for a new compact solution for this work, D J Cleaning has just purchased a Bobcat T450 track loader from AMS Bobcat, the Authorised Bobcat Dealer for the counties of East and South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in the UK. Dan Stephenson, Owner and Director of D J Cleaning, said: “Because it is illegal, much of the fly-tipping takes place in the middle of the night in hidden away places, such as gulleys, narrow, out-ofthe-way lanes and overgrown areas and we have been looking for a solution for work in these tight and/or inaccessible places, that larger vehicles cannot access. “The compact size of the T450 now allows us to take the machine to site on a trailer and drive it right up to the rubbish/waste materials and remove them with the Bobcat grapple attachment also supplied by AMS and load it into another trailer for removal from site. One of the first jobs for the T450 was to clear rubbish dumped in a valley area, where the local council couldn’t work out how to get at it, but to their amazement, we were able to clear it in less than an hour using the new compact loader.”
Best-in-class Pressurised Cab
The cab on the T450 at D J Cleaning is fully enclosed, including a front door and wiper system. This provides a best-inclass pressurised interior space that keeps dust down to a minimum, keeping the operator clean and comfortable. The onepiece seal and unique, curved door pocket

ensure that the driver enjoys the bestpossible protection for asbestos removal work. Dan Stephenson adds, “With the peace of mind provided by the enclosed, pressurised cab on the T450, we can equip the machine with lifting tines and drive it on to the most confined of asbestos removal sites to pick up hazardous materials we’ve bagged up for safe removal from site.”
T450 joins Bobcat ‘Pocket Rocket’
Harvey Stephenson, Dan’s son and a company director, has taken over much of the day-to-day running of the business. He says, “In the past, we have hired in compact machinery when needed, but increasing workloads have meant that we require the T450 all the time. We have been purchasing Bobcat equipment from AMS Bobcat for over 10 years and have always found the products to be well built and sturdy performers. And the service from AMS is second to none. “The new T450 is a perfect fit with our existing Bobcat T2250 telehandler and E16 mini-excavator. Both of these machines have been great for us – I call the T2250 the ‘pocket rocket’ – it has serious poke for working in our yard and on site for driving into piles of debris we have to remove. We also have the advantage of interchangeability of attachments such as buckets with the T450.” Paul Hyslop, Bobcat District Manager UK North, commented: “We are delighted that D J Cleaning has expanded its Bobcat fleet with the addition of the new T450. The company provides a great demonstration of how the diverse products in the Bobcat portfolio can be brought together to provide a unmatched selection of solutions that works for a wide range of different applications and customers.”
Improved Performance with Compact Track Loaders
As tool carriers, Bobcat compact track loaders like the T450 offer many advantages over the comparable wheeled machines. They can provide increased productivity in many conditions with a lifting capacity approximately 25 per cent greater than the equivalently sized wheeled loaders. While wheeled machines may outperform tracked machines for sheer manoeuvrability on hard surfaces, the rubber tracked undercarriage on track loaders ensures improved traction on rough terrain; soft, sandy surfaces and in wet, muddy conditions.
14
DIGGERSLIVE
Harvey Stephenson adds, “Like all Bobcat track loaders, the T450 offers exceptional manoeuvrability and fast cycle times. It is therefore ideal for use in the cleanup work after the severe storms and flooding we have had in Yorkshire, particularly in areas where the use of larger machines is restricted. In fact, we have been using the T450 to clear away ballast bags that became submerged by the torrents of water we had to deal with in the floods. “We also have to be very careful when we start work on a new fly-tipping site – the tracks on the T450 provide
much more protection than wheeled machines against damage from sharps in the dumped materials. The much better traction of the T450 provides 15 per cent more pushing force than the equivalently sized wheeled machine, allowing it to push heavier loads without getting stuck.” Approximately three times less than wheeled machines, the low ground disturbance of Bobcat compact track loaders like the T450 allows them to work on delicate surfaces such as established lawns or asphalt, minimising damage and reducing the need for tidying up after the job is complete.

A TELEHANDLE ON THE SITUATION In 2019 Merlo launched two completely new ranges, comprising 26 all new ROTO and PANORAMIC models The PANORAMIC range
Merlo’s Panoramic telehandler range with the new MODULAR concept was developed in response to market demands and in line with the constant evolution of Merlo technologies. The machines have similar dimensions and weights to the previous range, but with superior performance, ease of use and safety. The Panoramic range comes in a variety of models within the following categories: Winning features of the Panoramic range include: • Merlo interface with hydraulic locking and tool recognition • Side and longitudinal engine, hydrostatic transmission • Levelling and boom side-shift system • High safety, FOPS, ROPS and MCDC system (Merlo Dynamic Load Control) • Spacious cab, excellent panoramic visibility • Contained chassis dimensions and high ground clearance • Modular construction, maximising versatility and customisation • Improved quality inspection throughout the production cycle, due to the modular nature • New family of axles with cast structure. • Portal-mounted drive shaft, guaranteeing high ground clearance and increasing the axle’s structural resistance Dry disc brakes, two per axle, reduce fuel consumption and improve performance. Greater disc dimensions increase braking force and cooling capacity. The parking brake has automatic activation and engine shut-down. The stabilisers remain within the contours of the machine, without altering the maximum size. They are mounted directly on the axle and are made with a new cast structure. They are designed to guarantee perfect frontal visibility as the machine operates on wheels. The foot support is slightly inclined with respect to the ground. This allows greater stability, including on sloping grounds, reducing the risk of machine slipping. New hydraulic cylinders increase the lifting capacity by 30 per cent. The chassis can also be levelled with a stabilising system, guaranteeing a side correction of five degrees, equivalent to an eight per cent slope. It is also possible to add the inclination correction action to the chassis levelling mechanism with the stabilisers. In this case, the 10 degrees equivalent correction can be achieved at an 18 per cent slope. The boom shift can also be implemented with a stabilised machine. The movement reaches about 480 mm per side in the case of the machine with a boom of 18 meters.

It can reach 40 km/h depending on the version. The load sensing variable displacement hydraulic pump is controlled by an electronic joystick mounted on the dashboard. Maximum pressure 250 bar. Maximum flow 105 L/min. The boom suspension (BSS) is available as an option for the entire range. It improves comfort and stability during transfers and reduces the risk of material loss.
DIGGERSLIVE
17
The ROTO range
The ROTO family developed for UK market needs, consists of telescopic handlers belonging to three distinct categories, the S-Classic 400 models with 415-degree rotation; S-Classic 600 models with 600-degree rotation and continuous rotation (S-Classic); and S-Plus: models with continuous rotation Winning features of the ROTO range include: • Merlo interface with hydraulic locking and tool recognition • Longitudinal engine and EPD hydrostatic transmission • Axle levelling and suspension system • High levels of safety, FOPS, ROPS and ASCS advanced management system • Tiltable and spacious cab, new smart armrest • Contained chassis dimensions with high ground clearance The chassis is equipped with a steel belt, a full steel bar with a cold bent 70mm diameter and the machine has a lower centre of gravity. There is greater protection of components against shocks and accidents and the upper part of the steel chassis is completely walkable. The S-Classic and S-Plus models are equipped with active axle suspensions as standard. These can be managed in three ways: active suspensions, manual management (levelling and machine height variation) and locked suspensions. This means increased comfort during transfer, less vibrations transmitted to loads and chassis levelling for lifting loads on wheels. It is possible to vary the height of the machine according to the soil. ROTO machines are equipped as standard with self stabilisation and self levelling. By managing the stabilisers independently, it is possible to correct ground slopes up to six degrees and vary the stability plan according to the conditions of the site. Hydrostatic transmission with electronic Eco Power Drive – EPD control allows RPM to be varied independently of the speed of the machine, reducing them when unnecessary in order to minimise energy waste. Other features include high dynamic braking and precise movements, high power and high dynamic braking. The machine is easy to use and has high operational precision when moving. It has a top speed of 40km/h. Two completely separate circuits for hydrostatic and hydraulic systems reduce the total amount of oil (lower
maintenance costs) and improve transmission efficiency, quickly reaching the ideal use temperatures. The variable displacement hydraulic pump – load sensing with flow sharing control (latest generation – with Stepper Motor), is controlled by an electronic joystick control. It has a maximum pressure of 250 bar and maximum flow rate from 105 to 160 L/min. Stepper Motors allow increasing hydraulic circuit reactivity and eliminating problems related to the temperatures and the risk of oil contamination. Redesigned lifting cylinders have greater thickness of materials to work with higher pressures and new pins and bushings, to increase the life of the component. New sealing solutions reduce the risk of hydraulic leaks. New Merlo cab: • FOPS (lev. II) with external windshield protection and ROPS • 4.3 square metres of glass surface for brightness and visibility • 1010 mm width for operator comfort • Door opening: 180 degrees • Windshield wipers and rear window wiper as standard • Side window with possibility to lock it in fully open position • Pressurised, according to ISO 10263-3 • New capacitive joystick. Two sensors automatically detect the presence of the operator’s hand For the S-Plus models, the machine is equipped as standard with a cab with a tilting device, which allows it to be raised by 20 degrees, guaranteeing load visibility in all circumstances. Merlo feature only. Attachment recognition: Magnetic sensors are mounted on all tools produced by TreEmme, and a sensor is mounted on the carriage of the machine. Once the tool is detected, the machine automatically sets the flow limits to preserve the safety of the tool and the operator. In the cab there is a digital display for displaying all the main information. It is also possible to determine all the movements that can be performed with the load being handled. With the new multi-function digital display, it is possible to set the maximum movement speeds for the main hydraulic controls using simple commands. The new multifunction digital display makes it possible to manage the different cameras available for the models, projecting the images directly on the display.

ONLY ISUZU CATERS FOR ALL ELLIOTT’S TRUCK NEEDS looking vehicle that creates a very positive impression with our customers,” said Laura Elliott, from Elliott’s Upper Crust Catering Services Ltd. Elliott’s plan to run their new Isuzu Grafter trucks for a minimum fouryear period, working on five-day a week delivery schedules, providing hot and cold food and drinks to workplaces throughout Essex and Kent. Each vehicle’s delivery operation varies, ranging from multidrop deliveries within an 18-mile radius up to a maximum of 100 miles from the company’s base in Canvey Island, Essex. All 20 of the new trucks are Isuzu Grafter SWB N35.125 chassis, with a 1.9 litre diesel engine and a 6-speed gearbox. These Euro VI vehicles are fitted with Jiffy Banquet temperature-controlled bodies, that are recognised to be the body of choice within the UK food to go market.
Launched originally in 2019, the Isuzu Jiffy Banquet answers all the requirements of operators, such as Elliott’s, who have years of experience delivering hot and cold snacks to the workplace. The Jiffy Banquet has everything the modern operator needs, with enough stock capacity to cope with any size of round. “It is really pleasing to see such a well-established family company, such as Elliott’s, joining the growing number of catering companies that are now using the Isuzu Jiffy Banquet as the ‘go to’ specification for workplace food and drink deliveries. The Isuzu Grafter chassis is well known for its reliability and market leading payload and over the next four years, Elliott’s will benefit from these proven attributes within its delivery fleet,” said John Corcoran, fleet sales manager at Isuzu Truck UK.

CASE HELPS KEEP THE ISLE OF MAN CONNECTED IN £25 MILLION LANDMARK PROMENADE PROJECT being undertaken by groundworks company Stephen Christian and Sons, involving the installation of a new utility system of electric, water, gas, telecoms and street lighting. At the heart of this activity is a CASE Construction Equipment TR270 Compact Track Loader with
CASE T450 Rock Wheel attachment. “This is a landmark project for the Douglas community,” explains Richard Christian, Director of Stephen Christian and Sons. “We’re trusted with a project that means a lot to the people who live here. It will drive additional tourism to
this area and improve the livelihoods of those who work in our island’s capital. We’ve worked with Manx Utilities for many years and a big part of this longstanding relationship is the quality of our work and the reliability of our equipment.” Stephen Christian and Sons has been a CASE customer for more than 30 years with a current fleet of ten CASE machines. CASE dealer Dennis Barnfield Ltd recommended the CASE TR270 Compact Track Loader and the CASE T450 Rock Wheel attachment. “The CASE Compact Track Loader is unrivalled when it comes to utilities work,” explains Graham Barnfield, Managing Director, Dennis Barnfield Ltd. “It may be compact, but it packs a punch when it comes to power and torque and it delivers consistent performance in the most demanding conditions. “We supplied a high-flow hydraulics package with this machine to deliver as much power as possible to the rock
wheel. This package supplies 55 per cent more flow than the standard hydraulics package and comes with a 14-pin electric plug socket to operate the attachment. This genuine CASE Rock Wheel attachment gives the operator complete control while digging trenches with ease.” Richard Christian continues, “Trenching is demanding on our operators. They have to work fast against tight deadlines and that means long days. The CASE Compact Track Loader performs consistently and reliably in these challenging conditions. The cab is quiet, spacious and comfortable, with full air conditioning and radio, so operators can work the long hours needed to get the job done without fatigue. “There is nothing else on the market quite like the CASE T450 Rock Wheel attachment. It’s a great tool for our utility contracts and cuts through the road with ease. On the Douglas promenade job, we’re cutting through 200mm of reinforced concrete and 50mm of asphalt
with no problems. The tool creates a consistent trench every time, cutting to the exact width of the wheel, which is perfect for the micro-trenching needed for telecom jobs. When you’re creating kilometres of trenching, the time savings add up. Put simply, the rock wheel saves us time and money while ensuring that we deliver a consistently high standard of work.” The CASE T450 Rock Wheel is also available for the new CASE B-series range of Skid Steer Loader, launched in March 2020. “Attachments only increase the versatility of CASE compact machines,” says Joseph O’Grady, Business Director Northern Europe, CASE Construction Equipment. “A landmark project like the redevelopment on the promenade in Douglas offers the ideal arena to showcase the power and flexibility the machines offer. We are delighted that it has been such a success and look forward to seeing how the works progress.”

PIT-STOP FOR SAMOTER AND ASPHALTICA Veronafiere, in agreement with steering committee, decides to reschedule two shows NEW DATES: 3-7 March 2021 “We must now launch a promotional path shared with the community to support the recovery of these value chains. Verona in 2021 will host the first sector events on a European scale for the world of construction. A chance to intercept the restart on the market and organise an even more pertinent event.”
Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of Veronafiere Veronafiere’s two shows for the construction equipment and bitumen and road infrastructure value chains will meet exhibitors and operators next year, from Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 March 2021. The decision was shared by the steering committee for the two events comprising manufacturers, stakeholders and industry associations alongside Veronafiere Unacea and Siteb after noting the persistent scenario of international uncertainty linked with Covid-19. The debut at SaMoTer by ICCX Southern Europe, the main prefabricated concrete event for southern Europe created in collaboration with ad-media GmbH, is also rescheduled for the new dates in 2021. “As always, we listen to our customers with the intention of safeguarding the sector,” explains Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of Veronafiere. “Together with all our partners, we identified the beginning of March 2021 as the best time to organise SaMoTer and Asphaltica. This is only a pit stop: the engines are still up and running so that we can join the entire reference community in defining a promotional path in the run-up to next year. “An initial physical stage is already scheduled in October. The new 2021 dates will mean that the two events will be the first to inaugurate the calendar of specific trade fairs for the world of construction in Europe. “Rescheduling these events will ensure

broader representativeness in terms of large international groups and sponsors, thereby intercepting the recovery on the market in the wake of resumption by construction sites, not the least thanks to resources made available by the Recovery Fund.” Mirco Risi, President of Unacea says, “After consulting our membership base through a flash survey, we are convinced that market conditions do not exist in 2020 for an event capable of living up to the expectations characterising SaMoTer. “We therefore welcome rescheduling the event to March 2021, thereby positioning it in a manner that best exploits the hoped for growth effects emerging from the expansionary measures announced on European and national scales.”
Michele Turrini, President of the Siteb-Strade Italiane and Bitumi Association says, “We agreed with this decision, given the leading role that Asphaltica has always played for all players in the road infrastructure supply chain, stakeholders and the many associate companies that registered for the trade fair again this year. “We are convinced that the postponement to March next year will enable us to prepare an even more effective and visible event in international terms and thereby relaunch the entire world of road infrastructures. As ever, the objective is to promote the opportunities for meetings and comparisons between companies, public administrations and institutions that have always been the heart of the event.”

CASE STUDY Wordsworth Crushing is a nationwide crushing contractor that provides customers with a complete solution of operators and machines to assist with the processing of raw materials. Having contracts with many big names like Cemex, Breedon, Tarmac and Aggregate Industries, the company works hard to invest in machines that will enable its customers to meet their productivity objectives while keeping running costs down. Prior to its purchase of the new wheel loaders, Wordsworth Crushing had been using Komatsu WA470-7s alongside similar models from various manufacturers. Having positive experiences with its Komatsu equipment and a good relationship with the manufacturer’s area sales manager, Rob Wilmott, meant that when it was time

WORDSWORTH CRUSHING RECEIVES THE FIRST FOUR KOMATSU WA475 10 WHEEL LOADERS IN THE UK “a very nice bit of kit” to renew their fleet earlier this year they came back to Marubeni-Komatsu. When they did, the WA475-10 wheel loader had just been released and was available for demonstration. One of the key benefits of the new WA475-10 is improved fuel efficiency – a big factor Wordsworth Crushing considers before purchasing any new machine. With this in mind, they decided to trial the new wheel loader for one week to see the fuel saving capabilities for themselves. The demonstration was successful and resulted in the company receiving the UK’s first two Komatsu WA475-10 wheel loaders in June. Both machines have already been put to good use, with one currently working at the Steelworks in Port Talbot and the other working at Cefn Mawr Quarry where it is processing limestone. The other two wheel loaders were delivered in July and have also been sent to various sites around the UK. So far operator feedback has been positive and consistent, “I prefer the new WA475-10, it’s a smoother ride compared
to other machines. You can feel a lot more through the Komatsu Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission and it gives out a lot more digging power. It does take some getting used to the new driving style, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a very nice bit of kit,” says Leon, wheel loader operator at Port Talbot. The driving style is different to earlier models as the innovative new transmission dramatically reduces brake wear by using the transmission to slow travel when the operator backs off the travel pedal or reduces maximum speed on the travel control dial during downhill operation. Ritchie Shawcross, working at Cefn Mawr quarry says, “The machine is great, I particularly like the new cab which has improved visibility all around the machine.” The WA475-10 cabin has been completely redesigned for this purpose. It features additional glass at the bottom of the cab and doors to enhance visibility during operation and there are no corner cab pillars, greatly reducing rear blind spots. Greg Wordsworth, Operations Director at the family firm frequently uses KOMTRAX – Komatsu’s machine monitoring system – to keep track of the machines’ health, idling times and service records while they are working on the various sites located around the country. He also uses KOMTRAX to monitor the machines’ fuel usage and has identified that on some days the WA475-10 is 27 per cent more fuel efficient than the previous model. As standard, the new WA47510 wheel loader comes with a fiveyear / 10,000-hour warranty on the transmission. In addition to this, Wordsworth Crushing has taken out a three-year / 6,000-hour full warranty and service contract to keep the machine working at optimal performance and for added peace of mind.

TAKE THE HIGH ROAD How the forestry industry is growing with MB Crusher’s products Accessing mountain roads in the middle of a forest is sometimes impractical, and without public trails, it’s practically impossible. And even if often the sole way is to reach the peak by foot, it can be weary but so rewarding! Let’s think how difficult it is for companies that need to make or maintain the forestry trails. Image the challenges they must face to reach their location with the proper equipment for the job, while maintaining low operating costs, and without impacting the forest’s resources. They need to plan a project while adhering to their budget and environmental laws. Usually, these jobs are necessary and need to be completed quickly to avoid natural disasters like
32
DIGGERSLIVE
landslides, or to open resorts in time for the season. To overcome all the challenges it’s crucial to rely on simple, versatile and fast equipment. MB Crusher attachments open the road ahead, literally, for companies who use them. They can be installed on and transported with the machinery you plan to use for the project and can adapt to any job site to process material. They eliminate all struggle and expenses commonly associated with these forestry jobs.
When the road isn’t there…
Reaching the job site is the first expense and obstacle to consider, especially if the
location is in an isolated area with limited or no access. Bigger machines require expensive, specialised transportation difficult to obtain for similar projects. By mounting an MB crusher bucket on a piece of equipment, the unit is transported with your machinery, avoiding expensive transportation methods. This is what the forestry department in Nevada did. They re-surfaced the firebreak roads, using the MB crusher bucket to process and recycle granite and river rock. By using the unit, the department eliminated all material hauling costs, helping save millions of dollars a year. It also reduces invasive species and other types of minerals that
were trucked in the past to do these types of job. A similar situation happened in Serbia, where the SrbljaSume state department – which is dedicated to constructing and maintaining all forest trails – is using the BF90.3 crusher bucket on an excavator. This MB unit is crushing basalt that will be used as road base to either construct or to preserve existing roads. A company in northern Italy had a similar project, creating a scenic path that leads into a forest. With the BF90.3 mobile crusher, they processed natural stone and rocks and managed harder materials with ease. Everything was efficiently done on site. The same thing happened in another region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, where a larger crusher bucket model, the BF120.4, arrived at a construction site in the mountains, despite it being difficult to reach. Mountain trails aren’t solely used for hiking. In the winter, snow transforms these locations into renowned ski resorts. These ski resorts have to be ready before the season officially starts, meaning that a quick turnaround is necessary. In Austria, a BF120.4 crusher bucket followed the ski slopes’ route, while crushing limestone and using it as base material.
Separating and selecting dirt is the next crucial point when constructing trails. A common solution is to haul the material up and down the mountain. You can get rid of this step with MB Crusher’s units. MB’s screening buckets can access all construction sites and screen material on the spot. This happened on a job site in Canada’s forests where they built a path leading to a residential area using the soil and rock screened with an MBS10 screening bucket. Not only did they eliminate all hauling fees, but also followed all environmental protocols by using material available at the location.
When roads need to be cleared
Mountain trails need to be frequently cleared of obstacles such as tree trunks, branches and debris moved onto the walkway by storms and winds. MB Crusher grapples are easy to operate and are the perfect tool to move objects with strength and precision. A massive storm that hit Italy in 2018 razed a large portion of forest in the Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto regions. The equipment required to recover fallen tree trunks and debris from roads and paths and help move materials regardless of how the tree
trunks were laying, was the MB Crusher MB-G demolition and sorting grapples. Full rotation and a strong clasping strength, allows it to pick up materials at different angles while ensuring nothing falls out of the sides. Trails have to be cleared of surrounding vegetation and brushwood that could be an obstacle to foot traffic. This can also be done with one of MB Crusher’s grapples. Once they are mounted on your equipment, you pair them with the correct accessory and get the job done. All over the world, our customers show how MB Crusher units are a great tool for the agricultural and forestry industries, which must deal with difficult-to-access locations, high operational costs and environmental protection laws. MB Crusher’s units process material on any job site, making it available for immediate reuse or resale. All kinds of materials are handled with ease and the units don’t need to be sent to special centres to be serviced – maintenance can be done on the job site without lengthy downtime. There is no doubt, MB’s attachments are the ideal machines for those companies that want to go a long way.

All of that can be applied flexibly and thus particularly economically – a real boost for every construction site.”
and the efficient hydraulic system make it possible to use the excavators for applications with very high ambient temperatures (up to 45 degrees Celsius) without suffering a loss of performance. Both excavators are impressive for their high lifting and digging power for quick work cycles and three-point kinematics for more break out force, insertion depth and dumping height. This provides the construction site with tangible benefits: thanks to the high break out force, even applications on very rocky or stony ground are no problem.
High performance, compact dimensions, comfortable operation
Efficient and safe work
These are the demands put on excavators of this class. With the tracked conventional tail excavator ET42 and the tracked zero-tail excavator EZ50, Wacker Neuson offers the ideal combination of these requirements. The powerful drive allows customers to deploy the machines for demanding tasks as well. The wide-opening covers make access to all service points easier, which results in less downtime and thus cost savings. The generously dimensioned radiators

The innovative hydraulic system Load Sensing Flow Sharing ensures precise control and high performance efficiency. The machine adjusts automatically to the load and the joystick movement remains constant for the operator at all times. This makes working with the excavator particularly comfortable. Four additional control circuits allow the use of a great variety of attachments, such as a Powertilt with gripper. For the end user, this opens up many varied application areas. In addition, with the new pressure release switch, hydraulic attachments can be changed more quickly and easily, making the sequence of operations on the construction site smoother and operation more comfortable. The optional autostop function switches off the engine after a longer period of inactivity, which makes working with the excavators more efficient. Both excavators also score points in the area of safety. The new Active Working Signal (AWS) guarantees a higher level of safety for persons in the work area of the excavator. When the excavator is ready for use, a red LED strip, integrated in the engine hood, lights up. This way, all persons on the construction site know that the excavator is in service – a simple but effective feature for more construction site safety. A rear camera including a seven-inch display for even more safety in everyday work is also optionally available. LED
headlights ensure perfect view and safe working even at night. As an option, the excavators can be equipped with a total of seven headlights.
The tracked conventional tail excavator ET42 and the zero-tail excavator EZ50 are ideally suited to confined construction sites thanks to their compact design. The zerotail excavator EZ50 allows particularly safe working at walls, the side of the road, or with other limitations. Additionally, on both excavators, the lifting arm cylinder is protected from damage by the piston rod protection made of flexible synthetic material. Thanks to the elastic material, no deformations are left after contact with the bucket, which saves repair costs as well as time.
Roomy cab for even greater comfort
The cab of the excavators ET42 and EZ50 is designed spaciously in a way that the operator has optimal view of all sides, especially of the right-hand track and the attachment. Stefan Bogner says, “The operator should feel good in the cab and be able to get his bearings quickly and easily. For this reason, we placed great value on intuitive operation and the greatest possible overview.” The machine is operated simply by means of a joystick, jog dial, 3.5inch display and keypad. Using these elements, the quantity of hydraulic oil required for each individual attachment can be stored and saved. This makes changing the attachments easy and comfortable and prevents possible damage due to incorrectly set oil quantities. Other features include a cell phone holder with USB charging function, a radio with intercommunication station and a powerful air-conditioning system.
Anti-detracking and anti-vibration track technology has arrived... TerraTrack Plus is the perfect combination of the world’s most advanced rubber track technologies. ANTI-DETRACKING Interlocking steel link features prevent detracking issues even when used on demanding terrains. WL110 – Higher, faster, stronger
The wheel loader WL110 is ideally suited for heavy material handling. This is ensured by a combination of a powerful 156 HP engine and a large hydraulic pump (180 L/min). Using the Wacker Neuson heavyweight – with a tipping load of up to 7.7 tonnes and a bucket capacity of 1.8 cubic metres – companies are raising their productivity. Where gravel breakers must be loaded with large amounts of heavy gravel, such as
material handling in building and civil engineering, municipalities, or gravel plants, operators benefit from the higher tractive forces and travel speeds of the machine, which the innovative transmission ecospeedPRO, a variable hydrostatic high-speed transmission, makes possible. The powerful wheel loader WL110 is additionally equipped with an articulated joint and an oscillating axle at the rear, which make it maneuverable and compact, while guaranteeing optimal traction, for example in gravel plants.
All-round visibility and comfort cabin for increased efficiency
The large cabin of the WL110 ensures the operator always has an optimal view of the attachment and its surroundings, making working safer and more efficient and resulting in time and cost savings. The ergonomic comfort cabin offers the operator plenty of legroom, a practical layout of operator’s controls and a comfortable operator’s seat. The
seven inch digital display gives him the most important information at a glance. Besides the standard displays, the active functions are also displayed in the cockpit, for example which electric functions are switched on. The “Jog Dial” control enables the operator to carry out sensitive work while saving resources. This can be used to manually set the flow rate of the hydraulic oil and track it on the display, meaning every attachment can be operated to its own requirements, ensuring increased efficiency and protecting attachments from overloading.
