GETTING DOWNTOWN

We mean it when we say that Toccoa is at the heart of Northeast Georgia – all roads lead here! The new Highway 17 expansion, designated by the Georgia General Assembly as the Currahee Parkway, is a four-lane highway that connects much of Habersham and Stephens Counties.

If you’re up for a journey, you can take it almost all the way to Savannah on the coast! Toccoa is conveniently located a short distance off of Highway 441 and Interstate 85, as well as State Routes 106 and 145, so you’re never without options.

The classic way to arrive in Toccoa is by rail. Our Amtrak station, one of only three in Georgia, rests on the Southern Crescent line, which runs from New Orleans to New York City.

While you’re waiting for your train, stop in at the Welcome Center and visit the Currahee Military Museum or purchase a ticket for a show at the Ritz. If you prefer to wait in a more relaxed environment, our new Railway Viewing Platform, located a short distance from the station, provides comfortable benches and shade to watch Norfolk Southern and Amtrak trains on the active line. You can even fly into Toccoa. The Toccoa Airport, also known as R.G. LeTourneau Airfield, sees dozens of airplanes a week. Take in the scenic view as you fly 10,000 feet over the Georgia Mountains. Charter a private jet or enjoy a smaller flight through the mountains. The newly renovated terminal at LeTourneau is the epitome of class and culture, and is certainly worth a visit.

Whether it’s by plane, train, or automobile, there’s always a way to get to Toccoa.
