A NEW RECREATIONAL PARK

The City of Toccoa has a targeted effort on providing public access to passive and active recreation in the community.

As part of this effort, parks like Henderson Falls Park, Alewine Park, Emory Johnson Park, and even the Doyle Street Pool provide ample opportunity for citizens to engage in active recreational opportunities.

There’s a new park on the horizon, however.

The Lake Toccoa Recreational Park, as city officials are calling it, takes the existing facilities at Lake Toccoa and improves upon them in meaningful ways. City-owned and operated, Lake Toccoa is not only the City of Toccoa’s water supply, but the prettiest view in all of Northeast Georgia.

Citizens and visitors alike can enjoy the expansive 9-hole golf course at the Links at Lake Toccoa, enjoy a burger and one of dozens of craft beers and regional wines at Ping’s Grill, a fully-restored 1940s-era Army Officer’s Club with a lakeside patio, and book an event at the fully-restored Reflections at Lake Toccoa event center.

If you visit Lake Toccoa today, you’ll see that work is being done next to Ping’s Grill. This is the site of a pavilion, to be installed in the coming months. This large pavilion, situated by the lake, will cater perfectly to weddings, birthday parties, concerts, meetings, and more. And in several months, a pier will be constructed also. This pier will allow for fishing and also have paddle boat slips, allowing citizens to enjoy the beautiful lake. Within the next year, Lake Toccoa will also be home to a .7 mile fully-ADA compliant concrete walking trail. This trail, situated around the perimeter of Lake Toccoa, will be free to use and will include seating areas for relaxation around the lake.

All of these amenities are either free or low in cost to serve all segments of Toccoa’s population. Come out and enjoy the Lake Toccoa Recreational Park today, and watch as it grows in the coming years.
