Dear Patron of the Arts,
“Anything can happen if you let it.”
What a wonderful message. A nanny blown in to save a family and along the way teaches children the value of community, how to appreciate other human beings, learning to see past what’s on the outside, and even how to treat their toys!
Meanwhile, through the stress of life we learn it’s better to deal with everything with “a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.”
This experience has been truly massive and there is only one word to explain what this process has felt like…SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICXPIALIDOCIOUS!
And so, a TREMENDOUS THANK YOU goes out to the creative team that has worked so hard and given so much of themselves in sharing their expertise with the cast and crew of MARY POPPINS! Thank you, Dan Redfeld, Bill Burns, Lacey Anzelc for your patience, professionalism, creativity, and hearts in all you do with us. Thank you, Jeff McLaughlin for larger than life designs and for lighting the way so brilliantly. Thank you to our wardrobe supervisor, alum Andrea Suarez ‘09 for working so ridiculously hard, being so beautifully creative, and adding so much to our creative team! And yes, we have more wonderful alum sharing their knowledge and guidance with our crews—thank you to Nicholas Pelayo ’20, Emily Leaver ’19, Lulu Bishop ’20, and Aaron Camitses ’14 for coming home to work with our cast and crews and giving back to the Chaminade Players.
What we do here is a collaborative effort and we are blessed with fabulous Drama Mamas, as well! Thank you to all new and returning Mamas, what would we do without you??! We love you all!
Thank you to Mike Davis for his technical expertise, blood, sweat, labor, and all things magical! Thank you to Dan Kondas, our ZFX flight director who was such a pleasure to get off the ground with! Thank you to those in the business office who help us make the magic of theatre happen financially—Janet Koller, Trish Lyons, Michael Lehrmann. Thank you to our Chaminade community, and to our president, Rob Webb for always supporting our art.
Thank you and Congratulations to the incredible, hardworking Cast and Crew. They have been guided and taught, they are loved and appreciated, they have the tools, and now they must do it on their own...together. They are all absolutely lovely, gifted humans. And to the Class of 2024, we have loved having our time with them and wish them joy and success as they move forward into the next chapter of their journey.
As Mary Poppins says…
“With every job when it's complete, there is a sense of bitter-sweet That moment when you know the task is done. Though in your heart you'd like to stay to help things on their way, you've always known they must do it alone.”
This is their Practically Perfect show. Enjoy! And watch them fly! And thank you for joining us!!
Much love,
Yvette Lawrence Bishop Director of Drama Program
