A Message From The Director Tonight’s program surrounds itself around the idea of traditions, both in the world, and here at Chaminade. When I started here at the beginning of the school year, my objective was to change as little as possible, learn as much as I could, and increase the academic and musical culture of the choral program. In doing this, I thought what better way to create a culture, and ultimately build traditions, than to use music as our vehicle for learning about other cultural traditions around the world. This evening, you will hear works from the rolling hills of Scotland, deeply rooted spirituals in American and African history, music from the Asturian region of Spain, and much more. We used this music to better understand ourselves, each other, and the world that we live in. While this program is only for the semester, the goal is to continue building on what we have learned, and continue building a culture and traditions here at Chaminade for the future. I send my sincerest thanks to the Chaminade administration, the arts faculty, the countless parents who have offered help, and most importantly, the students.
Sincerely, Conor Whalen Director of Choral Programs
