END NOTES Dear Patron of the Arts, th
Happy 80 Anniversary to The Wizard of Oz! We are thrilled to be bringing this timeless classic to life on our very own Tutor Family Center for the Performing Arts stage at Chaminade! I remember the excitement of watching the film every year on television, when I was a child and empathizing with Dorothy when no one understood her, laughing with delight at the land of the Munchkins, awed by the beauty of Glinda and her fabulous way of traveling, hiding every time the Wicked Witch appeared on the screen. In choosing a musical to produce at the high school, there is a need to find a story we wish to tell, opportunities for our students as cast and crew and of course, we have a desire to bring pleasure to our audience. The Wizard of Oz has it all—unconditional family love, a self-righteous villain, friendship, conflict and an escape over the rainbow. I wish I could say it has been an easy process, but, like life, it has had its challenges--- and like life there is joy and growth in the process. So, thank you for coming out to support the fruit of our labor. We are so thankful to have the amazing creative team which includes Mike, our technical director and his trusted shop sidekick, Brother Tom Oles, Jeff McLaughlin, our set and lighting designer, Bill Burns, our dedicated choreographer and Amanda Carr, his wonderful assistant choreographer, the maestro Dan Redfeld, our music director, Luis Ramirez, our fabulous wig master, Lacey Anzelc, our scenic artist and her fearless partners in crime, Tracy Lundy and Jade Ryser, Daisy Bishop, our ever patient child wrangler, our new friend, Nick Santiago and his projections expertise and our dedicated team of wonderful Drama Mamas and Parents past and present.
