The hospitality space on campus should not be just a transient hotel building; there is an underlying common bond between Pratt's guests. The design aggregates individual units that are separate but adjacent to each other to form a single unit of residents and arranges them together to form a village like aggregated community

8

lifestyle. As these units are placed on the site, their negative spaces are extracted and planned as common areas, setting the edges of each space as transparent semi-open kitchens. Where sharing, dining, communicating and community living will also take place, the design will provide a spatial "cohesion".

The interior space is made up of natural materials with its own colors: oak wood, marble, sandstone and greenery for most of the visual area. At the same time, large areas of semi-open glass add to the permeability of the public spaces. The design aims to create a natural, warm, cohesive and classless feeling of interior space.

INTRODUCTION

Philosophy between the gesture of "sitting" and the object of "tool" in design: as a result of the gesture of "sitting", it produces "tool". The chair is a practical art of living that reflects the user's state of life from the side. The design proposes that: the chair should a sitting tool that can be used freely, not a single-state gesture. It can indicate the identity as well as the individual attitude of the particular user.

CONCEPT STATEMENT Philosophy between the gesture of "sitting" and the object of "tool" in design: as a result of the gesture of "sitting", it produces "tool". The design proposes that: the chair should a sitting tool that can be used freely, not a single-state gesture. It can indicate the identity as well as the individual attitude of the particular user.

SKETCH & MODEL Design was inspired by hans Wenger's chairs.Through the precedent research, I found that the three-legged chair has great flexibility - it can fit a wide range of sitting positions and achieves a good balance of function and aesthetics. Design of the chair looks into giving the user the freedom to decide how they want to sit, instead of telling users how to sit.

THE PLAY-HOUSE

INTRODUCTION The family who owned the project bought a property in New York City as a second home for education and work. The owners wanted a home that was different from a traditional home, a place where they could grow with their children and gather with their friends. The concept for the project was called a playhouse. The design defined the home for the client as a place where everyone could share their lives. The designer

analyzed the client's personality and routine, and compared each client to a small animal, and designed the home as an uninhibited, inclusive, natural playground for these "small animals" to share. The spatial design strategy is to set up private spaces for the individual to meet the most basic functions, while the rest of the residence is a public area to encourage family members to stay in the public area for as long as possible to spend time with their families.

IN-BETWEEN PLAYS

INTRODUCTION "THE AGENCY", a design consultancy known for its set and exhibition design, now needed a new office. The design will emphasize THE AGENCY's brand identity with spatial language and narrative, not just in the choice of materials and colors. The spatial strategy was to turn the office into a giant "theater", coordinating the relationship between presentation and viewing. The design uses different staging elements as the design language: all the spaces that need to be displayed and

public are set as a huge "stage" which is interspersed in the center of the space; all the office spaces are used as "backstage" for quiet and privacy; the office spaces are connected by a "catwalk bridge". The office spaces are connected to the different departments by a "catwalk bridge"; at the same time, "stage curtains" of different transparency and acoustics are used as partitions in the space. The design creates a connected, collaborative, performative and creative office space.

RHYTHM OF ROOTS

INTRODUCTION "ideation and repersentation" is a course designed to instruct students

The project started with the word "growth" to evolve the design

on how to use 3D software as a generative and expressive tool to aid the

language and eventually the design evolved into an underground

design process. After generating a 16-word conceptual model using Rhino

plant park. Different floor settings allow people to dive deeper and

software, it was imported into revit for reorganization, followed by learning

deeper underground while gradually moving from an active state to a

and investigating the OFFICE KGDVS output style for personal expression.

solitary, meditative state. The rhythm of the root system will take place underground as people run, plant, sketch and rest in the soil.

The ground level is the entrance level with the most abundant sunlight, open space and pools for people to run and shout. Some strenuous exercise can be done here

Head down into the first floor space. It is filled with plants that absorb sound, while there is a good balance of light for sketching and taking a break with a cup of tea here. The space is full of quiet, tranquil atmosphere

The lowest level is the quietest and closest area to the soil, where you can feel the smell of the earth and the fragrance of the plants. This area is suitable for napping and meditation.
