information Initial concept: The vegetation is affected by bushfires. Research process: One year after the devastating fire, Kangaroo Island burned almost half of it, covering an area of 23,000 hectares. From January 3, 2020, the forest fire burning on Kangaroo Island is the largest in the history of the island. The catastrophic impact on people, houses, nature, tourism and businesses is unimaginable. Bushfires are part of the natural life cycle, and many native plants are self-giving, which means they rely on fire to regenerate. The ashes, smoke, rain and light produced by the fire gave some plants the opportunity to grow, bloom and flourish, and only a few hours after the fire, the restoration of nature is already in progress. Life is a cycle.

burn area -On December 20, 2019, a fire broke out on the north coast of the island due to lightning strikes. -On December 30, more lightning strikes occurred on the island, this time in the Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Reserve north of Flinders Chase National Park. The fire destroyed more than one-third of the island’s land, and the fire is threatening the only bush in the western part of the island. -In January 2020, after a fire swept through the stunning wilderness of South Australia Island, the fire scorched the northern edge of the area.

wind direction

The wind speed is as high as 80 kilometers per hour. The fire burned a similar area in 2007, but this time the wind was hotter and the fire was more intense. The hot weather and unfavorable winds that day caused the fire to erupt violently and pushed it to the east. “Winds were not consistent, they were blustery and came from many different directions.”
