3D capturing
This project is about building a sculptural pavilion in woods which can be used as art studio with supporting facilities. The concept is a single freestanding plane forming interior space, structure, and the exterior of the pavilion. The concept started from the idea that two-dimensional plane can become
three-dimensional space by wraping or rolling.

Three dimensional spaces, rooms, are consisted of two dimensional planes, walls. Most of spaces we encounter are formed of several planes, a single plane can also create space through bending or rolling. This project suggests a pavilion space created from a continuous single plane. The exterior shell of the pavilion, the rolled plane, also performs as the main structure of the building. Glass window frames, deck plate, and small columns that dealineate the indoor space are connected to the main structure plane.

randomization of frame pieces
The 3d captured surface is translated into wall structure with depths. The wall structure is translated into smaller parts of frame. Left is the basic frame structure of the initial surface. In Grasshopper, two types of frames with varying thicknesses are imported and randomly placed in the basic frame structure. The number slider highlighted on the left bottom corner decides combination, above examples are outcomes of number 5, 10, 15, and 25.
