INTRODUCTION T h i s i s Ta i wa n , my h o m e to w n for more than 25 years. Some p e o p l e ca l l i t Fo r m o s a , w h i c h means " the island of beauty ". This portfolio demonstrates my passion and capacity in architecture design; as well as my a rc h i te c t u ra l a n d c u l t u ra l discourse( which I call - Dialogue ) based on the experience of my motherland. ABOUT DIALOGUE Architecture is more than form and aesthetic value. It's about the relationship between different subjects. I describe this approach as the architecture of dialogue. According to the context, a total of six projects are selected as descriptions / transformations of different dialogues between research subjects.

MAMBO DANCE UNDER BRIDGE
寶 島 曼 波 How people utilize space can show their characteristic. Under bridge space can avoid the hot wheather, and provide a leisure space in the crowded city. In the following project, I would like to discuss the relationship between activity and form, hoping to reflect the identity of Taiwanese people.

INTRODUCTION This project began with a simple question: “Do we still need physical books in the digital era?” In the digital age, people rely on the Internet rather than physical document due to convenience. This phenomenon make the archive less important in a campus. This project aimed to transfer the original archive to a place to spread knowledge, rather than just storage knowledge.

INTRODUCTION This project is a research about the relationship between nature environment and industry in Luzou industry distrct. Paradoxically, Luzou produced the largest a m o u n t o f c ro p d u r i n g t h e 2 0 c e n t u r y ; however, has transformed to an industry area due to lost of land productivity. Nowadays, factories are moving away due to the rising land price. In addition, several policies have shown that government are decided to make the district a better living area. Base on the history and the fact that factories are moving away, this project assumes a reverse progress- the "revival of green", aimed to bring back productivity and green belt.

INDUSTRY TRANSITION
ZONING OF LUZUO
Luzou produced the largest amount of crop during the 20 century. However, due to the convenience brought by several different transportation, Luzou has grown to one of the most important satellite industrial city of Taipei. During the past few decades, because of the rising land price and government policies, it's facing industry transition, and the factories are moving away for better living quality.
Area A. Power Plant is situated by Hsu-Huei high school. Government decided to tear down the power plant in 5 years. The land will be used as residential purpose.

CHAPTER 1 GREEN FANTASY
She likes leaning beside the window, watching outside
Do you know why there is so much smoke? I can't see my scenary
How about go take a look?
Here we are ! It's seems like a factory or something? It so dark here, can you turn the light on ?
I get it !
21
Thanks for the ride. Do you want to hear a secret? I had a strange dream last night. It was a story about an old man
However, some small black sapling broke from the ground one day. And the original tree begin to die.
He lives in a forest near a small town. The old man wants his forest back. He collect the last few seeds of the original trees, and plant them carefully. Few years ago, the situation changed. Green tree were back, and the black tree disappeared. . .
Let's plant some seed here ! Maybe it will become another forest !
22
CHAPTER 2 FANTASY,REALITY Hello, mom. It's been a while ... I'll be at home in thirty minute. I want to hang around near the neighbor.
23
Dear ! Welcome home !
Mm, no matter what, let's have the dinner!
It's been a while ! Our town have changed since you left. Remember the old factories you used to played around ? They were pretty much abandoned...
What's the voice ?
Mm...perhaps it's raining outside ?

CULTURE MURDER
文 化 扼 殺 Our city changes fast, way faster than we think. However, there is always victims for it. Culture can be killed by gentrification, urbanization, and globalization. And our city is facing the lost of local culture. The next project, which is also my thesis design, based on a fact that sub culture is dying, and needed to be rescued.
31
INTRODUCTION This project is based on the bussiness study of mass culture and sub culture. A s t h e sy m b o l o f te e n a g e r s u b c u l t u re , independant shops in Xi-Men is facing high house rent, and inevitably moving away. Nowadays, more and more chain stores are coming and killing the original business in XiMen. This project aim to bring back sub culture by utilizing "Sub Spaces", which is the special identity in the urban context , and recreate t h e s h o p p i n g ex p e r i e n c e i n s u b c u l t u re business area.

SHOPPING EXPERIENCE / A RITUAL FROM OUTSIDER TO INSIDER Shopping experience in independent shops is like a ritual- from outsider to insider. Being cheated at first, then getting familiar with the shops, and finally become an insider in Xi-Men.Different from mass culture, independent shoppers are being "selected". Shopkeepers select insiders who can get the best collection, as well as cheating outsider who just accidentally jump in the shop.

Business culture in Ximen is like social class. Familiar customers get the best service, while outsider is easy to be cheated. Shopkeepers select who to sell their best collection.
37
SITE STREET OF AMERICAN This street is the spirit of sub culture in Xi-Men, also the shopping experience can be observed here: 1.Shopkeepers squat front door area to look for potential customers, and select, examine them. 2.Shopkeepers often gather in blank void space during their break. Exchanging goods privately, sharing the latest business news. This is the trading place for sub-culture collectors.

SPATIAL APPROACH
Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:
Step 4:
Step 5:
Utilizing the original structure system as main structure for main space
Separates sub space and main space volume, and creates interface between them .
Creats sub space volumes by adding sub structure onto the main structure. The route in sub space are complicated, easy to get lost. Same as the context of Xi-men, there are blank spaces for shopkeepers to gather
Creats main spaces. Including plaza, and different types of program to attract people. There are still some secret spaces in the main space area.
Creates long escalators as the path of " R i t u a l " . S h o p ke e p e r s c a n s e l e c t shoppers transported by the escalators
MODELING
39
MODELING APPROACH This project challenged the role of modeling, claimed that physical models are not only for presenting the final design ,but much more a study progress. Sketching on the model snapshots to add design ideas, and study between physical models and drawing, blurring the boundry of these two media. Secondly, the progress of creating these models are like collecting my own past momories in the original Xi-Men context, reconstruct several separate experience as a collage of my own impression of Xi-Men.
40
PROGRAMMING In order to reflect the issue of the invation of mass culture and chain store, several "dying industry" are hosted in this project. On the other hand, thesis project is also a reflection of one's own architecture thought, a n d a co nta i n e r o f o n e ' s o w n m e m o r i e s a n d experience. For me, it indicates those took place in independant shops , which can not be re-find but should be momorized.
