CONCLUSION Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the second largest city on the east coast and just recently the fifth most populous city in the United States, housing around 1.5 million people, this city acts as the economic and cultural center of the Delaware Valley. At such an important juncture located at the confluence of the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers, integration and connectivity is a key factor in this city’s. The overall integration analysis shows a pretty clear representation of how the grid plan integrated a great deal of the streets in the direct downtown area. This is even more evident when compared to the areas that relate more to geographical features such as hills or bodies of water, where the roads become more winding, leaving them less integrated into the city’s fabric. The least integrated areas of the city are located northwest of the Schuylkill River mostly because of this geographical divide, as well as a rise in elevation. Not surprisingly, the area that is most isolated in the entire city is the neighborhood of Fairmount Parks which is located right at this juncture. This location is known for offering an immersive natural experience within close proximity to the city. Fairmount Parks offers wildlife refuges, environmental centers, and 9,200 acres off woodland for outdoor activities. The other two primary isolated zones, the neighborhoods of Mantua and University City are less integrated because of the very same reasons. These two districts are bordered on at least two sides by the Schuylkill River, cutting them off from the rest of the city. In the case of all these areas, the grid plan was abandoned because of geography, creating fewer and less integrated streets. Also, all the less integrated areas either boarder or on the west side of the Schuylkill River and are located primarily around the bends in the river, where there are few bridges or points to access the rest of the city.
